Learn from the mistakes of others you can't live long enough to make them all yourself.

More people would learn from their mistakes if they were not so busy denying that they made them.

i have found that more people would learn from their mistakes if they were not so busy denying they made them. This is not directed at anyone but includes us all. We can learn from the mistakes of others because there just isn't enough time to learn from all our own. This is something I have been trying to implement in my own life. Yet we can only care and recognize our mistakes according to our own state of consciousness in recognition of such things. Can mistakes made now be rectified later? Sometimes by grace we are given that chance but we must recognize it to make changes in our lives. Our actions or lack of them defines our relationships over the years.

Critical and detached observation may help us in preventing us to make the mistakes we observe in the others. I concur that's a good way to avoid to learn at our own expense. Usually the lesson is learned when we suffer from the consequences of mistakes but Learning without suffering the consequences would sure be great.
Of course, we would hardly do some mistakes we observe. Or maybe, from the height of our pride and hubris, we may believe we would not make them until under compulsion or demonic suggestion.

That's why Steve's suggestion is pretty sensible. Let's put ourselves in the condition ot Others, let's visualize their reasonings, their mistakes, the suffering after the consequences. This may become a mental scheme to experience by proxy the errors of Others and learn and armour ourselves against possible karmic events which would influence us to make mistakes we thought we never would have made. Especially when we are dealing with conditions wich we recognize we are not yet above them.
