666 Brother Bhaktananda's explanation

This may of interest to some of you. While I was in the physical presence of Brother Bhaktanada  I asked him quite a few questions that other people also wanted the answers to. In a providential sense he answered them for more people than just myself.

I asked him why the number 666 was used in the Bible and what it referred to. He explained to me that 6+6+6 added up to 18 and that these numbers were the numbers of man-each group of 8 representing groups of aspects of man that needed to be overcome before liberation could occur. He did not refer to the devil but rather that the beast was the number of man; the qualities that kept man tied to the physical plain.

Now I know we could probably find words that were "good" that add up to 666, but hey, this is kind of interesting, no? Coincidence?

Brother actually was answering a larger and all inclusive question i was referring to. There was a lot of talk of the rapture. Buz words like the antichrist armageddon and the end of times were used by many Christians. So i wanted to get an answer about such things from a more reliable source. Brother Bhaktananda told me that these things were symbolic and gave the example of 666. Why someone would want to write something symbolic that causes so much confusion and has been a topic of debate for centuries is beyond me. But it is just one more confusing and challenging aspect of a book that has been the inspiration for more wars and debate then probably any book in history.
