I was having the same thought.

Pluto looks remote, yet its average distance from the sun-earth is 5.5 light hours, that is,  about 0.014 light years

Whereas the earth twin, Kepler 452b, is 1400 light years away....

This gives to us an idea of the vast interstellar distances, which woudl need a faster than light travel system to be explored.

The NASA JPL in its site gives an explanation on how it could be done by the spatio-temporal wormhole, the downisde being that, beside requiring an unthinkable amuntof energy, we shoul already be on the other side of the wormhole to build up the portal. That is, to reach Kepler 452b, we should already be there.

We can be optimistic though.  Kepler 452b is a couple of billions year older than earth, so if the conditiosn are right, there has been a lot of tiem to develop intelligent life.

Intelligent life could broadcast to us the design of a portal wormhole they already built in their planet. This of course has been going on for a few thousand of years, since a signal takes 1500 years to reah us from there. We should but build the portal following there design and then a connection would be estabilished. But....

-Would that be safe? There would be some danger in accepting instructions from an alien civilization. Would that be a benevolent civilization or a predator one, just waiting for helpless victims to fall into their trap?

Another possibility woudl be that an alien civilization, now residing around the earth unvisible to us (that 's the Norman Paulsen hypothesis) would choose to bestow to us the wormhole technology and make us free to roam the galactic routes.

All the aboved is stil  pure fantasy though. So far we are trapped into this planet like into a  jail.
