Well the 'how' is just determination, practice, research, and full belief that you will succeed.

Definitely so, but effective pocedures would be welcome. My basic idea is that, since mental states can be pretty easily altered by external signals like chemicals, it should be even easier to do from the inside.

Unless mental traits and personality dwell in the brain. I tend to deny that, even though of course when the astral and causal brains overlap on the physical, connections are created which exchange signals both ways. So, a damage in the physical brain can alter the functions of the astral and causal ones. That's the price paid for identification with the body (and the mind-personality= ego).
