i find it is helpful to change my schedule around from time to time to experience different times of the day and nite. i went to sleep early last nite and woke up before the Sun brightened up the day. It was was so quiet that i went out to the back yard and started a fire. i sat there meditating and realized how much the silence affects your own mind. There are so many activities during the day and we are influenced in our restless minds activities with the views of our friends, the news and all the thoughts we have surrounding work and family.  It gives us little time to explore other dimensions but instead we are just caught up in the material dimension.
