Higher Age electronic music ?

If this topic would be of interest to any of you,  here are some links to sites that deal with spiritual vibrations in music for the purpose of healing.

It really has helped me to read through interviews with Jonathan Goldman, Steve Halpern, and how Chuck Wild took an interest in music that heals.

Richard i read some of one of the articles. i think what i saw was a fine tuning of what many musicians have known intuitively for years. That is: sound affects the nervous system and the body. Because of the innate vibration many of us have not felt comfortable playng certain kinds of music. It does not resonate with us.

i have often thought about the intuitive aspects of the flow of the music of other musicians, my own music and the lightness or heaviness it has on our consciousness. It is amazing you know, but some musicians do not have especially spiritual lyrics but yet their music has a lightness that makes you feel light. Other musicians have harmony about them or a rhythm that makes the nervous system and body react in a certain way. Then the rhythm can be changed in such a way to make a common occurance a shift in reality outlook. Sometimes the melodic content invokes feeling from its extended use at other times just a few notes or a single chord can be arranged in such a way to bring tears to your eyes. i have listened to some music wherein the key changes or harmonic structure changes in a way that makes me feel as though the statue quo is not being thrown on me but rather an exciting change in consciousness. Then there are musicians who have inspiring lyrics but the music at times can be concophonous. It is as if the lyric, rhythmic, harmonic and overhaul affects of the music speak of the consciousness, emotions, insight, sense of humor, intellect, sensitivity and spirituality of the musician.

i just thought i would add a little here. Specifically; because at times i tend to want to emulate certain sounds and feelings i hear and expereince in nature, in voices and in the creations of others. i remember Daya Mata once commented on the music of today. She said it reflected much of the problems that are in society today and wondered how people could listen to most of it when it has such a negative affect on us. Yet i also remember Amma smiling at a devotee who was a famous musician and had a very negative message in a song that he told her about. It seems that everything was turned into a positive vibration in her presence. Like everything was light. She seems to be able to percieve that light behind all forms. Brother Turiyananda once said: How can we expect to raise our consciouness when we name bands with titles like: The Electric Prunes and The Grateful Dead? In a very real way he expressed his views in humor no doubt like the bands with those names: It made you feel like laughing and despite what was said it had a good affect on you. i think there is validity to all of these positions. You might even find that these people could laugh at there own names or the jokes others made of them. It certainly did not stop the cash flow.

Enough talk from me for now. Hope you can get something out of these observations that can add to your thread.We/i am grateful to hear from you again and hope that you will put your videos on this site or give us links here. The musical and pictorial work you have been doing is very spiritually arousing. Keep it up and don't ever loose touch dear friend.

Just ordered a used copy of "Music, the New Age Elixir" after seeing it mentioned on www.echoes.org and thought it would be good to see someone else's perspective.  I'll let you know what I think of it.  Cheesy

Eastward In Eden: Please share some of your revelations from this book. The table of contents looks interesting especially the area related to the chakras and music and the colors ot the diatonic scale. i have been so involved in relocation and the meditation that there is no time for anything else. Although i try to maintain contact with friends. It makes life so much more happy!

Pranams to you, brother, on this sacred day - JANMASHTAMI   Cheesy

Along with the New Age Elixir book, I ordered "The Soundscape - the Tuning of the World" by R. Murray Schafer... and it, too is very very thought provoking.  Roll Eyes

I have only read a small portion of the "New Age" book and I get the impression that she is trying to blow the cotton candy fluff of typical "new age jibberish" off of what facts she has personally discovered.
Guruji also wants us to use discrimination in what we read, right ?

Healing with sound vibrations is certainly a higher-age practice, no doubt.

There is also the fact that pranic forces in us, along with our willpower, can
be aroused and bring about healing of body and mind....regardless of the technique the "healer" is using.
I doubt that the author of this book is aware of, or accepts even the possibility of astral forces,
both within and around us ?

So,  it will be of great interest to me as I read through this book to see where she takes her research and the reader.
I'll keep in touch.  Cool

You haven't "missed" anything.  Grin.... its just a hobby.
Just this past April I bought my first computer  Shocked  and am at long last able to do a little recording.
I had created the MySpace page long before I had the laptop,  and wasn't thinking about downloading music files.
Now, I don't think I can use the same E_I_E name and e-mail contact
to create a MySpace Music page... Angry  Huh?

Same with Facebook, you seem only to be able to post video files and NOT audio-only files. Cry

So, the only way I can share my sophomoric attempts at recording music is to create little "slide-show" videos in iMovie and attach the audio files from GarageBand.
On my Profile page of MySpace and Facebook, I have posted a few of these "videos".... enjoy ! Cheesy

p.s. Steve keeps in touch, too... he is a real musician...

Thank you EE and Steve for directions to the videos.

Very cool EE, beautiful music and videos !I can imagine listening to the music during meditation, very inspirational.  I especially like the way you fade the pictures in and out, and the one with the drop of water in the pond with the fish - so cool.

In the video Steve mentions , " Sergeant Stays in Tune ", at about 127 on the dial, it looks like there is a blue angel in the center of the picture, did you see it ?

Thank you for sharing EE !  Smiley

This fellow here is a musician that apparantly hears the music as colors . I beleive that was the topic of a conversation here earlier.

here is a link to his music and  he won the  music  section  entry into the  new  Tribe magazine section. so i looked him up and found that out.

there are a lot of articles in his name and here is one link where if I make sense of it you can listen to his music.

LUCY....you got some splainin' to do!!

I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe) - Genesis

It's one o'clock and time for lunch,
When the sun beats down and I lie on the bench
I can always hear them talk.

There's always been Ethel:
"Jacob, wake up! you've got to tidy your room now."
And then Mister Lewis:
"isn't it time that he was out on his own?"
Over the garden wall, two little lovebirds - cuckoo to you!
Keep them mowing blades sharp...

I know what I like, and I like what I know;
Getting better in your wardrobe, stepping one beyond your show.

Sunday night, Mr. Farmer called, said:
"listen son, you're wasting your time; there's a future for you
In the fire escape trade -  come up to town!"
But I remembered a voice from the past:
"gambling only pays when you're winning"
I had to thank old Miss Mort for schooling a failure.
Keep them mowing blades sharp...

I know what I like, and I like what I know;
Getting better in your wardrobe, stepping one beyond your show.

When the sun beats down and I lie on the bench,
I can always hear them talk.
Me, I'm just a lawnmower - you can tell me by the way I walk.

Is that really Peter Gabriel? Never saw him that young. Those were the days when Genesis was hot! Before Mr.Commercial became their lead singer.
