i found the om technique given by Parmahasa Yogananda (and others including Amma) as very valuable to making the sound of om a reality in my life. i really do not know if i would have ever been aware of that sound had it not been for the technique. So i am very grateful to Paramahansa Yogananda for this technique that he has given the world that mkes it possible to hear many internal and divine sounds. i think at first most of us need a way to close off the outer noise and some of the internal chatter as well so that we can begin to hear that low rumbling which sounds like the ocean from a distance. i say this because when u r up near the ocean u hear the waves but the om sound is more like the rumble of the ocean (to me) rather then the sound of waves.

If anyone questions that this sound really exists; How can they know unless they try a technique to hear it? It is tantamount to saying i do not believe there there r such a thing as fireflies. Well if u live out here in southern California u might have that perception because i have never seen one out here. But if u go to the Midwest near Michigan and go out at nite eventually u will see them. In the same manner most people will not hear the om sound unless they r exposed to a way of listening to it. If they r resistant to being exposed to it how will they ever know?
