Amma was asked; How to create a balance between compassion and detachment. How do I find the place where the two are in harmony?
Amma: Really, there is no difference between compassion and detachment when you see everything as God; compassion arrises. What God gives God takes back. There should be no sorrow. When we say: ' God how could you do this to me?' Then we suffer. There is no point in putting the blame on God or anyone else. All the actions I do- its not me it is God. We think we are performing but God is doing everything. From that attitude compassion arises. Everything is just a gift. Without this attitude we claim it as our own.
A boy bought a beautiful gift for his father. He said that he bought his father the most beautiful gift to his friends. The father asked him where did you get the money to buy such a gift The son replied: 'I used your credit card Dad' We are taking and exploiting a giftt when we say everything is ours and comes from us.
To be continued....
The subject transforms the object. The subject is God. When we see all the actions we do as coming from God... God you're performing. You are performing God. God does everything. From that attitude compassion arrises.
