"The substance of a dream is held in materialization by the subconscious thought of the dreamer. When that cohesive thought is withdrawn in wakefulness, the dream and its elements disolve. A man closes his eyes and erects a dream-creation which on awakening, he effortlessly dematerializes. He follows the divine archetypal pattern. Similarly when he awakens in cosmic consciousness, he will effortlessly dematerialize the illusions of the comic dream." Babaji: The Autobiography of a Yogi.

So this explains why it is not always easy to remember a dream when one wakes up from sleep. The dream just dissolves into thin air, so to speak.

This cosmic consciousness, is this reached in advanced stages of meditation ? Or is this a state of mind that exists on a daily basis, when one is further along the path of Enlightenment ?

is this direct connection to divine sources or just a fevered mind

Steve, that's perfect wisdom to quote and share with everyone in this area of the forum. I just wrote it down so I can look at it from time to time. I plan on writing down my favorite sayings or lines from AY next time I read it, I'm just a little ahead of myself.

The cosmic dream is such an incredible concept. I hope to learn a lot more concerning this topic over the next couple of years. I understand that my statement is bold to say the least. How about, I hope to learn a lot more about the Cosmic Dreamer by the time I reach 100 years old. That makes a lot more sense and is reasonable. We both remember Ram Gopal in Autobiography of a Yogi who meditated for I think 18 to 20 hours a day for forty years in order to know God better. Exploring the depths of within with yoga meditation is more exciting than what an astronaught could ever imagine. I borrowed that depths of within from the movie Excalibur. Possibly even more relevant is what is found in the Bible in Revelations which states that eyes have not seen nor ears heard the things the Lord hath prepared for those that love him.

The Bible is an incredible book. I don't understand as much as I'd like to as it seems to be filled with riddles. Just think of the Lord's Prayer, probably my favorite prayer in the Bible. The part that says "thy kingdom come". I don't know what this means exactly but I feel it can mean all of the prodical sons and daughters returned home to the Great Spirit. I day dream a lot and this section is about dreams so I suppose this is the right place to share my thoughts with my friends.

I'll share this quote from the Great Yogananda off of the 2009 Self-Realization Fellowship Calendar for the month of June. " Be enthroned in the castle of goodness, and your memories will be like beautiful flowers in a garden of noble dreams."

Yes riddles alright LOL i think i might have caused a commotion back then because i would have asked Jesus and the prophets: All you speak in is rhymes and riddles can you actually speak in a langauage that will not be misunderstood for the next 2,000 years? Jesus said "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes onto the father but by me." He also said 'if your eye offends you pluck it out'. i guess if we are going to be consistant here, about what he said to do, most of us would be blind today.

ahh i think Mark 4 verse 11  comes to play here lol

"The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that, 'they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!'" (4:11-12),

i take it none of you have tried to find the meanings of any of the parables...... lol

If this be so why is it so bad that they 'turn and be forgiven?' i think it is very important to recognize that the New Testament was written at a very dark period of the Kali Yuga. We need more up to date Masters and Gurus to fully understand the meaning of this obscure writing: particularly Revelations.
Paramahansa Yogananda did much to fulfill this need in the 'Second Coming' A two volume interpretaion of the meaning of those parables that Jesus spoke.

This quote by Babaji always inspires me to mediate and wake up into cosmic consciousness... 'effortlessly dematerialize the illusion of the cosmic dream.'

Have you noticed that when you have more time to sleep and relax you dream more?

something i learned when i was going to school. everyone dreams. the average is 4-6 dreams a night. the ability to recall your dreams however weighs heavily on the individual. i think being well rested and having a relaxed/healthy state of mind makes it easier to recall your dreams. the more you practice, the more you'll remember. at one point, when i meditated regularly, i could recall up to 4 dreams in one night.

Sometimes it appears to me that your path is quite different then my own Eric. Your dream life has always been very vivid. Who would not wonder about such inner scenarios? When we have certain inner experiences such as astral projection we wonder where such things may take us. I feel as long as you keep up your meditation you will receive further strong insights into your being.
