I remember Turiyanada always having challenges with weight. I am fortunate to have been able to stay somewhat slim thru out my life. He told me once that he would eat one day and fast the next...on a regular basis. Using him as an example for my life, I asked him if I should do that. He said: no and that he was doing it to loose weight. He seemed to be a very disciplined man to me.

But most of us have some physical challenges due to karmic reasons. He was making a valiant effort at addressing his own. I had my own physical challenges at one time that were miraculously healed by Paramahasa Yogananda when I went to live in California and visited his crypt. That miracle increased my faith in the divinity of the guru more than any event in my life.
