I've talked with some local SRF devotees who were around Lake Shrine and Brotherji (Turyinanda) in the 70s
they talked about how his words meant so much,
as he had to walk the world
as a 'householder' or married or such...
but was this Effulgent / Magnetic Monk...
(interesting)
Yes I remember telling Turiyananda that if he told me to march over the top of a hill and there we're enemy soldiers shooting bullets on the other side; I would do it.
He told me it was because his words had soul force. He was much like a military officer.
One that you would respect.
He asked me once if I would like to see his living quarters above the windmill Chapel.
I was honored he would ask. He took me up the staircase and we entered a room that was empty except for a mat on the floor and a picture on the wall. I was drawn to the picture on the wall. It was a picture of a German officer from World War II. I asked who it was and he said: "That is Rommel. He might have fought for the wrong cause but he fought."
