I try to find God in whatever i do and strive to find others who look at everything in this light. I cannot imagine being close without having an expression of spiritual unity of some sort. Yet, I have found my experiences turn out this way; They begin with the spiritual and usually stay that way. This also can end relationships since spirituality is often viewed differently.

Feeling a physical affinity can also retain a relationship when other differences exist. I have a friend that we shared a physical closeness years ago. We are still the best of friends. I sincerely believe that one of the main reasons we stayed friends after all these years is because of the physical intimacy we shared. By the way physical intimacy can be expressed many ways.There are people who have a gratitude for the intimacy they shared. Also some people frustrate one another because of unexpressed sexual desire. I have seen it end relationships.

I visited a friend yesterday who was physically close to another friend of mine. They are still close friends although they are not spiritually compatible.  Such is the nature of duality and the unusual differences in human nature and relationships.
