Not so sure PY is correct. I think the entire ordeal was damn painful. We are made in his image, that should mean that kind of pain would likely trump most thoughts of how others are treating you.

He still had lots of folks that did not give up faith. It was the soldiers that instilled fear on friends, lest it happen to you. But that does not break faith. Sure there's always those who are not your true friends. And he knew that going in.

We don't know really, we weren't there, and can only throw out guesses.
