I suppose what I'm trying to say here is that I really
enjoy being around friends
and feel a tremendous love for them. Perhaps
that is why I started this forum with some friends.
I feel that God is trying to manifest his love through our friendships.
When we are not receptive we miss something
wonderful in our lives.

True friendship does not demand anything in return. I'm making an effort
to practice  this principle more and more in my life. it surprises me
how some people will just  take  and take but
they miss the point. it is difficult if not impossible
to feel the love behind friendship when we do this.
there is the danger of falling behind the walls of indifference
and spiritual atrophy. Paramahansa yogananda has said that
we never can find realization and enlightenment
without helping and bringing others along
with  us on the way.

I agree with ya Steve and i feel the same way about friends!! I know all about others that keep taking and making it all about them too it's not right i feel we all should be helping each other along the way too! True friendship is hard to find i'm lucky i got a few real friends like that too! I am the most cautious person around after everything i been through on the internet it just made me stronger and i have a few i can just be myself with as well to me that is what the spiritual journey is all about is finding your true spiritual family!! Smiley

There is a fine line between reality and fantasy. We eventually come to realize that this reality called earth is not so real as it seems. Such is the case with friends ande relationships as well. What appeared to be real at one time eventually dissolves into a mist. The things that did not seem so real to us in actuality can become much more real and so is the case with God. When we talk with imaginary friends we often come to an understanding about ourselves because we ourselves create our reality. What is in the gheto or the heaven of our mind eventually manifests in the reality of our contacts and dissolves in the mist of our past. Much of what we see or do not see in our lives is a result of our faith to see it in the first place or our skeptism and doubt can make things dissapear from our life or never occur.

The more you have faith in something the more it becomes a living reality in your life. We have the ability to imagine things into existence, such as music, poetry, drawings people and places. We can also create imaginary windows and doors as a kind of physical metaphor for ignoring or shunning our companions. Some of us spend so much time with fairies that we coat those around us in their dust. On our spiritual path we spend much time distinguishing between dreams and reality. When we imagine our reality to be real and forget that it too is a dream we become lost in neverland.

when i was a kid...i was very much into stuffed animals.  every week i would walk to town and visit the local florest which sold stuffed animals.  if i desired a new 'stuffie' ,,,i would do extra chores in order to obtain the newbie stuffie i wanted so very badly.   during school hours....all i could do was think about the stuffie and how i could go about obtaining as sooooon as possible !   Cheesy   i worked hard for it....every hour not spent on homework would be spent on chores to obtain stuffie.

if we desire something strongly enough....then we CAN obtain it.

keys= commitment...will power.....desire....

In silence and stillness, I find peace.

Part of having a good relationship is being able to accept the gifts others offer us.

Once a friend offered me the biggest gift, beyond my imaginings... I was able to

accept it because I was in desperate need.  I really needed help!  But, when others

have wanted to bestow something special upon me, say lunch for my birthday,

something that is "icing on the cake," I have trouble accepting it.  Why is it that

I will happily volunteer for service of all kinds for others but find it difficult to

accept a gift myself?  Maybe I need to feel more worthy...  more "worth it!"

Do you sometimes have trouble accepting gifts?

No trouble at all unless i know someone wants or will want something in return. How ever it is good to be cognizant that give /\ take works both ways. You can't keep taking  Cry and expect not to give and if you give  Cheesy give  Embarrassed give  Tongue and nothing is ever coming back you might consider finding other friends.
