the benefit for me is understanding. sometimes dreams will show me in an exaggerated sense how i react or have reacted to a particular situation. i guess this is how i've translated the experience..

they speak to us our desires and tendencies, hidden nature and things of this sort... i don't think my dreams have ever accurately described or provided insights to another persons life though. also it's hard to have a detached perspective because our emotions are often intermingled- something we need to remember when interpreting our dreams

also if you dream about someone doing something behind your back that doesn't make it true 

there is more, but i think what i described is more on the surface level of the dream world
