I lived at a monastery for years. One of the monks liked animals. He named the chickens and roosters after civil war figures.
Seems like I can't get away from that incarnation.

Once i found a mouse in a trap that another monk set. I let it free because it was just struggling in the trap. When it fell to the ground it jumped up to my waist came down on the ground then jumped back up to my knee in joy. I told  the animal loving monk about it and he reprimanded me for committing the mouse to a death in the snow. I asked what I was supposed to do and he said 'at least you could have put it in the barn where it had a chance.' With all the cats out there i am not sure what was really better. After that I became the mouse catcher in a huge monastery with my live metal box trap.
