Friends often help us in self - examination since we rarely can see ourselves objectively. However when friends react to us it does not help us because we see their reaction and not what they are trying to really convey. This is the cause of much misunderstanding, separation and parting. Instead of helping us we see why they were taken out of our lives. Self-control is essential to spiritual progress and being an example to others on the path. If we momentarily loose self control we can easily rectify the situation. But if we choose to rationalize by making excuses it only delays progress and coming together with others.

Recently I have seen friends leave my life who reacted to events and myself. They might have had something important to offer
to the relationship. Instead they choose the line of least resistance and left. At the same time others have come into life. What kind of conclusion would one come to when this happened? Simply that people who have left by their own free will, were best to leave to themselves. They have choose unwise descisions regarding what they have left behind because of their own ego and web of maya they are lost in.
