I can confirm the Genius of Paramhansa Yogananda in devising these exercises. The innovation is not in the calisthenics themselves, rather in the conscious control of life energy which is employed by muscle tensing to revitalize all bodily parts.
I still practice these spiritual exercises every day and will never forget the day my blood pressure dropped from about its usual 150 over 98 to 120 over 72 and has never gone up since. I thank Paramahansa Yogananda for this miracle in my life and have no doubt in my mind that he performed this miracle and my religious devotion to practicing these energization exercises was part of my cure because I remained faithful to the practice of these energization exercises he created. It is 2:06 a.m. where I live and I am going out on the porch to practice them now!
At the end of a very busy day Paramahansa Yogananda would often be seen going out outside and energizing. Since he recommended practicing the energization exercises twice a day he often went back into his room and later was seen walking back on the porch to practice them once again.
I remember talking with Brother Turyananda and that he told me that at the time he was practicing the energization exercises 3x a day. They build will power in us as well. He also told me he was trying to lose weight and that he ate one day and then would not eat the next. Alternating from one day to the next; eating and not eating. I asked him if I should do the same and he said “No”. He told me the best way to lose weight was to push yourself away from the dinner table lol.
