Alas, I actually do agree with you that those were very spiritually desolate times for this land compared to now.  Which is why, I am attracted to only the mere "imagery" and yet beneath it I know that the reality was a different story and I am blessed and most grateful to be born in this day and age, to do what we are here to do. 

Yes, during this age i have seen many people in my life who r trapped under the guise of material progress. Much of it is getting a grasp on just how we create our self made 'prisons' and in this awareness making new choices associated with our ultimate freedom even though they may challenge our past views and  ideas of material comfort. Mistaking material comfort for true freedom we see those around us who fall back into the patterns of this era. In the process they loose the majic that is associated with true love and conducive to their entering higher states of consciousness and higher spiritual ages.
