i believe that those on the path may initially have these inclinations. It is almost a death wish. However i think that it is natural since the soul has a dim recollection of the work already done to 'kill' the ego. It is the desire for life that often causes so many problems since we want to experience our desires in the outer world. There must be the 'death' of this desire replaced with the desire for emancipation and liberation.

A premature forced end to physical life would only lead us back here. Because the soul choose not to finish it's  unfinished work and lessons it must build up the desire to come back and stay here to learn the wisdom that comes thru various experiences here on the earth plain. (An interesting film about this is What Dreams May Come with Robin Williams.) This would result in early deaths as a child until the soul overcomes his/her defeat outlooks and comes back to be victorious in the battle of life.
