I have found that many concessions take place in getting along with people. If you want to have a site with common interests and aspirations it is imperative to keep to those goals with not too many distractions. Because if we allow too many distractions we have proved that we get involved in needless disputes and social differences. That is why I had to change my personality and the topics at the portal. I do not have time in my life for needless distractions. Especially when I am attempting to maintain my daily spiritual practice and service to those around me; which is ultimately service to God.

I am unable to make changes in the world to any meaningful extent. Although, I can make changes in myself. If we find ourselves on a collision course in our personal lives we have three options I see available. One is leaving the situation. Another is confrontation and lastly finding common interests and views.

It has become more and more apparent to me that we can be pulled away from our goals in life by allowing ourselves to be needlessly distracted by our own restless activities and desires as well as the multifaceted opinions, desires and interests of those around us in our environment, here, at work, at home and in our leisure time.

There's an important element missing in this realization, one in my opinion is needed by those who feel they are distracted from their goals(my self included). It's called FOCUS.

Distractions will always be there, exercising ones will to focus or concentrate is the practice necessary to overcome or to move about in an environment not befitting our personal aspirations.

An example I can give here is that there are so many threads we could choose to engage in. And yet we rarely choose to engage in the ones that seem to align with our common interest. Is it human nature to latch onto differences?

I find nothing wrong with a member posting something I may not agree with, and it could be there is a lesson behind it. It's up to me not to engage when I feel it is hindering my desired lifestyle. As you've said, we make the changes within.

Disagreements and distractions are a natural part of life. Here's to us honing our skills as we will surely encounter them again. Best of luck!

As I read your thoughts on world views I find this thread very helpful.

There hasn't been a post made here for at least 120 days so this would be a healthy time to bump the thread.

Thanks for the reminder! Forums are kinda magical that way.

It just occurred to me that others might be experiencing extreme restlessness or an obsessive energy at this point in time as well. We have made a habit of getting on our screens to better understand worldly affairs- going online for todays drama, or hopping on social media and scrolling through content we never really sought after with rapid succession... I think it's collectively at that point where that "polarization" effect is being produced(again). I seem to experience it in waves.

I realize I was once again falling into the trap, reading biased news links and obsessing over differences shared here with regards to political matters and attitudes towards world views. It was really draining my energy and creating such a tension around me.

It really is a distraction. And if some people want to be distracted that's okay. But I do see I need to reshape my focus if I want to have control over my well being. I become tired and irritable obsessing over crap and it can get to the point where you think it's intentionally trying to rob you of your peace.

I can either 1) read all these post about ukraine and russia, about AI and transhumanism, about depopulation and climate change, about social credit scores and corrupt governments, identity politics and slavery- and then respond to that...

or I can 2) get more involved in the immediate reality, meditate more- enjoy the things that actually interest me and cultivate the things I really wish to experience.

For example... I have ancient aliens on in the background and they are talking about remote viewing. This is far more enjoyable than reading some news link from yahoo news telling me republicans are the party of evil and censorship.

I have more of an interest in listening to the men from ancient aliens talking about harmonic resonance and communicating with higher dimensions than getting all angry at my friends and strangers for becoming so polarized by world affairs.

I remember that turning my laptop off 30 minutes before bed has really made a dramatic difference with my peace of mind.

I remember that meditating with absolutely no electronics in my face has really helped slow things down and allowed me to enjoy the intentional, non-reactionary state of mind...

And so I bump this thread once again- it may be that concessions need to take place(to let go of that obsessive and restless energy)... But most important is focus. It takes knowing what makes us happy and continuing to make the effort to experience, practicing something with intent- having a goal and hoping to achieve it- or do we sink back into mindless comforts, repeating behavioral patterns to the extent we've now allowed external influences to appease and control our animal minds... ?

I know that restless energy is at a all time high- not just because of how tense things are around the world and the dramatic changes we are all going through- but also in part because of how connected we are thanks to technology/rapid communications. And in part thanks to the psychology of creating users- manipulating a persons emotions for the sake of engagement and keeping people addicted to content for the sake of profit. These are all very real practices and its turned into a (unintentional?) weaponization against spiritual and mindful experience.

It's important to remember, if you know peace- or have tasted it, and to see whether or not we're once again falling in the trap of distractions(with all its wizardry) and surrendering our will to outside influence or are we actually happy with what we presently find ourselves engaged in?

Time to work.

Eric you have mentioned the need for focus which is the microscopic lens in the larger picture of mindfulness. Thanks for your added insights! Because of the connective circumstances from the internet you speak of above, I believe we as human beings have the added responsibility of making connections that benefit others and ourselves in uplifting mankind. We have it within our power to pray and meditate on the behalf of those being persecuted and oppressed. Those people in bondage because of their commitment to justice and what is truth even in the face of cruel persecution from dark forces working in ignorance against the spiritual uplifting forces now helping us uplift the world through our own efforts at enlightening action.

Hello Eric; I quoted some of the points I found that resonated with me that you made. I see that your response was well thought out and something you are learning from the world’s distractions. See the above entry. I’m going to treat this post differently than other ones. Instead of immediately responding. I thought I’d take a break jog and meditate and respond when I’m perhaps more in tune and hope to find myself ‘happy with what I’m presently engaged in’ as you put it,  instead of constantly seeking stimulation for an over active mind.

I hope you have enjoy your jog and meditation. I'm about to leave here to practice some yoga myself.

Glad you found something that resonates.

It's a continued practice for me, but I think it's a move in the right direction.
