From PY,
"Intuition bridges the chasm between intellectual knowledge of the soul and actual realization of the divine Self."

"It is by intuition that God can be realized in all his aspects. We have no sense that can reveal knowledge of Him; the senses give knowledge only of His manifestations."

"No thought or inference can enable us to know Him as He truly is... for thought can not go beyond the data of the senses; it can only arrange and interpret the impressions of the senses."

"God is beyond mind and intellect..."

"Remember, greater than a million reasonings of the mind is to sit and meditate upon God until you feel calmness within."

"Say to the Lord, 'I can't solve my problems alone, even if I thought a zillion different thoughts; but I can solve it by placing it in Your hands, asking first for Your guidance, and then following through by thinking out the various angles for a possible solution.'"

Thanks for sharing divine friend! Meditation; the only way to discriminate between truth and error. Because meditation develops intuition.

Eric I am so glad that you included this from Paramahansa Yogananda. I have pondered about this recently and recognize the limitations of the mind. I have found and met people in my life who have had a profound understanding and many experiences with intuition. No matter what the mind conjures up or weaves in its intricate narrative of events it is the intuition that can cut through such stories that we tell ourselves and others tell us. I have found that though I have met great spiritual people who were able to see in me and through me I have also met many more ordinary people who have various degrees of intuition and are able to understand, empathize and know what is happening with others that come into their lives purely through the faculty of intuition which is developed either through such practices as meditation in this life or other spiritual practices in previous lives that they bring into this life as so called gifts of spirit. Paramahansa Yogananda and many of his disciples I have met have had intuitive capabilities that have helped me understand myself and acted as various times as warnings, helpful tips in life’s problems and encouragements in life’s aims and direction.

It was said many times by people who met Paramahansa Yogananda when he was in the body.... that ‘the Master knew my whole life. He knew everything about me.’  These qualities I had witnessed in some of his direct disciples that I met and many of his devotees. Having had this experience with them I am attracted to be in the presence of such people to have similar experiences of my own.

Understanding depends upon the senses for knowledge;  intuition  brings direct perception of truth. At times you have a feeling that something is going to happen. You do not hear or see anything upon which to base the expectation, but it happens. That is popularly called a “hunch”. You can develop it into controlled intuition by meditation, so that it will become a scientific factor upon which you can depend.

Paramahansa Yogananda

As an example recently I had a feeling something harmful was going to happen to me when I awoke in the morning. Because of that hunch I drove slowly all the way to a friends house in Manistee. As I was driving 45 mph instead of 55-60 three deer 🦌 jutted across my path in the road. Since I was driving slow I was able to avoid them all and stop in time for them to pass.

I have had intuition about people that sometimes takes years or decades to manifest. There might be for instance a hunch that something is not completely candid about someone. It may take a long time till a given situation reveals to you the truth about your hunch but eventually it is like a light going on in your head that makes you realize the truth of your intuition and the person involved. It may take the right circumstances and situations to bring this to light.

One great challenge we may have as soul journeymen and women; though our intuition is developed. We may occasionally put on our sex goggles or alcohol goggles, when we try to look thru most people  surrounding us. Our karma makes us see what is not always true but rather what we imagine and want to be true.

Sometimes we see things as they are, and even then, do not rise to the occasion. However, it is rewarding to recognize a greater truth and to be given an opportunity to overcome. It is rewarding to maintain a hopeful attitude, and, even if stumble along the way- we continue the race and cross the finish line.

I believe I am at the point where the finish line is not so much the goal as it is enjoying the race. Putting in the work and feeling, seeing the results. It's wonderful. Not everything goes as planned... Ego definitely creeps in. But.. I enjoy time for reflection, to regather strengths and for the rising Sun- a new day to try again. I find there's so much I don't know, and enjoy discovering. I find joy in living from the Heart.

I agree with your thoughts, and would add there are many goggles- not just sex or alcohol. Neither of those two actions are all that great compared to true Inner Joy and contentment. I do appreciate physical intimacy, but recognize a greater reality. I could do without alcohol. And for now I think sex is a chance to share loving energy with an equal partner. It is something I come to revere and would rather not squander it with others simply seeking surface-leveled thrills. I think maybe this is just a part of growing up. I have always had an interest in blending the physical with the spiritual. It may be why I am incarnated here after all. . .

We might as well call the goggles Karmic Goggles- as we are seeing the world through the lens of a unique personality. Ego, dancing with creation.

We are all familiar with suffering, but we do not know the extent of anothers suffering at a given time- we are not living their reality, and though we may gather what we think are true assertions about a person or situation- there is always more to a story than meets the eye. Even if we understand something- we understand there are details we can not ascertain(not while we are so heavily identified with our immediate personality). And... Understanding, in my experience, is compassionate and forgiving. I believe understanding is moved by Love.

All of this, is in reply to your latest post. Not so much about my thoughts towards intuition in general. But I would add that I do believe in a higher power, lovingly guiding us through out life.

Thanks for the introspection.

Intuition is that power of Spirit inherited by the soul, by which the soul can perceive all things directly without the medium of any other faculty~Paramahansa Yogananada

As an ocean can not be given to you in a cup, so the ocean of wisdom cannot be poured into a small cup of intelligence. In order to hold infinite truth, intelligence must be expanded or enlarged by meditation until it becomes a boundless cup of intuition~Lesson 147 SRF Lessons

Sometimes you 'know' what a person is going to say or do. When this happens you are experiencing intuition.  You are able to get inside them and experience them from the inside out. Do not ignore that silent voice of intuition which tells you when to act and when not to act.

Jitendra

In the world today we have many things happening that require meditation and intuition to understand and comprehend their results and what our response should be towards them. We have entered an era where rational thought and reasonable thinking does not alone give sufficient answers to how we should respond to others and to our world in general. The best thing for us to do is the answer the Master gave above and below.

“In order to hold infinite truth, intelligence must be expanded or enlarged by meditation until it becomes a boundless cup of intuition.”

~Paramahansa Yogananda
