Spiritual Progress

Many people have all kinds of experiences, but I don’t necessarily think that it means you or I are spiritually evolved more than others. I read something by Paramahansa Yogananda and it is one way to determine spiritual advancement, Although, I believe there are a lot of other ways that are worth mentioning,  but I can start out with this one:

If you are able to free yourself from all kinds of bad habits, and if you are able to do good because you want to do good and not merely because evil brings sorrow, then you are truly progressing in Spirit.

What saddens me is that sometimes our habits have us being involved with people who are no longer suitable for us. It is often difficult to let go of people and places that are no longer helping our aspirations and spiritual growth. We may have to pull ourselves away from, families, friends, cities, states or even countries sometimes to find ourselves and understand who we really are. It may take place by others ghosting us as well. This path of spiritual evolution, while it is happening to everyone to some degree, it is often quire different in the amount of effort and energy that one person puts into it from another. And also to what degree a person wants to fit in as opposed to some of us who do not see that as a priority in our outlook towards this world and the ambitions most people have living in it. The acceptance by others for us may change dramatically because of circumstances and environment.
