Psychic and Spiritual Experiences

I think one of the most fatal mistakes human beings make is that they write off or ignore unusual subtle experiences in life. In this crazy chaos that is western civilization we are used to the noise of cars, trucks and loud music and people who inundate our lives. So as an example, when we hear the faint sound of the ocean when we close off our ears in the Om technique we may think oh ‘that’s not much. Perhaps it is nothing at all.’ Or when we see colors when we close our eyes, or perhaps smell fragrances that have no known source, or have an experience with time where we think we have experienced something before that just arises in our consciousness. Or sit quietly and watch our breath and suddenly feel bliss come over us. Or feel an uneasiness about someone or something and find it was warranted and was an important hunch. Or perhaps had an experience with someone and recognized that we had just met someone important to the rest of our lives. These are all examples of small psychic and spiritual experiences that we ignore as perhaps nothing. However, they are indeed something that we should develop. Something that may become a lot more than we would ever guessed if we had taken notice of them much or had tried to develop them.
