Supportive Relationships

Seems to me that one of the most important elements in a relationship is the amount of supportiveness there is. If one or both parties are not supportive in a relationship the relationship is susceptible to dwindling and dissipating.

Quite often I see myself as part of a great movement. I’m just playing a supportive role but it’s ok. At least I am beginning to understand it’s not so much about what you are that makes someone important. I’ve been shown shining examples in my life of what we aren’t. I mean the power, knowledge and insight of a Brother Bhaktinanda was the revealing moment of that in my life. Sometimes the more we are stripped away of our illusions, and what we think we are, the more we are revealed to what our deepest desires are and given the freedom to explore them.

Faith in God is some thing we gain after many lives. Association with other spiritual seekers is extremely important. Many people may discourage us but we must keep moving forward. A single negative mind can pollute our mind and squander all our effort.

The Goat that was DEF made it to the top because he could not hear the discouragement of others no one could break God’s laws we have to endure the fruits of our actions at some time.

The ‘ultimate relationship’ you speak of is between ‘me’ and him. And my example for you … is how I pray to ‘him’ and keep myself in tune with him as much as possible.

I meant to ask how others were attempting to destroy your aspirations. If life is a mirror, the question should be asked... How am I destroying my aspirations? Thanks for the example...

I remember what Amma said: we are disappointed because we ‘expect too much out of others . It is ok to have expectations but we must recognize that people are a mixture of good and bad.’

I think the difficulty is not in just one example but perhaps you can understand it best this way Eric. You have been a manager in a store. How much can you legitimately ‘expect’ out of employees? And how much should you pass off as ‘people are a mixture of good and bad’?

If anything my time as a manager has shown me to place trust in the employees, that we are brought together by a common good- and that expectations have indeed created hiccups because not everyone learns the same way- so long as the intention to do the job is present, there is a hands off approach that is suitable. My time has shown me I know very little... But I continue to try and set a right example, knowing I too am not always living the ideal image. It even goes to show that management can upset employees expectations. Today I was pleasantly surprised by everyone's ability to come together, and I felt a sense of pride or accomplishment giving the younger employees the trust and space to shine. I realize they still come to me when they need it, but they also like feeling in charge. As a manager it's best to instill a sense of passion and responsibility in the staff. To say, "this is my store." It truly feels like, "our store."
Considering what you've quoted... Seeing God in all means letting go and also stepping up to the plate where the inner work is concerned.
