People deal with stress all different ways. Many of us come to a recognition that stress and frustration are the very fabric of this material reality. Few of us recognize that we must deal with stress either consciously or more or less unconsciously. Stress can be managed by various means. The means of managing stress we are enlisting here is by meditation. Otherwise we will have to encounter stress in the outer world with varying degrees of success depending on the people, conditions and the environment we are exposed to in our life.

Meditation is a conscious attempt at dealing with our own frustrations, anxieties and stress. Therefore it helps when we encounter stressful situations and people. We become more and more aware that stress originates in ourselves not in our environment and the people in it. We ourselves let others and our environment stress us out.

In the society that most of us live in most people seek instant gratification. When we find that gratification is accompanied by suffering and pain we often change our strategies and look for ways to get what we want in longer terms and with more patience. But even then we find that the carrots hanging from the string didn’t fulfill us as the way they had promised in our imagination.

The whole process of meditation is watching and observing our thoughts and feelings when we meditate. Therefore we also become more adept at observing our behaviors and our reactions to the behavior of others and the conditions around us when we are not spending time in meditation.

At some point we recognize that the stress and frustration of others who come into our environment mirror our own frustrations and stress. When this happens we become more patient with them as we observe ourselves in a mirror.

I started this subject specifically because I have noticed so much frustration in people I meet and in my self over the years. I have slowly learned to be more kind to material objects which seem to break down, not work properly and generally need constant care and maintenance. Somewhat like me (lol) . Guess these bodies all end up in a heap of waste when we’re done with them. In the meantime I’m always looking for creative ways to be happy with myself, others and the conditions that surround me. I know it’s helped to focus on my tasks and be careful about my movements and with the objects in my environment. I’ve noticed that some people become easily frustrated with other people while others become easily frustrated with environmental conditions. I have found it important to monitor my own response and reaction to both people and conditions in my environment.

Technology frustrates me. My eyesight frustrates me. I try and limit my time on this contraption but it is my only connection to people....
