Being around evil people and disturbing environments may have disrupted our early childhood and discouraged meditation and stillness in our life. Fortunately as adults we have more choice in matters of environment and people that are in it.

Eventually as we grow in age we discover people in our environment are disruptive to our stillness and meditation or conducive to peace and meditation. So we naturally select environments and people who encourage spiritual upliftment and avoid unsettling environments, social occasions and people who cause them.
