I must admit before saying this; my knowledge of Chinese astrology is limited. I have not as of yet been exposed any Chinese astrology that is even close to developed as tropical astrology ( western ) or jyotish astrology (Vedic or Hindu ).

Most astrology in China came by way of Buddhism which has been hushed by Chinese Communism.
What makes Buddhist astrology ‘Buddhist’ apart from Buddhists practicing it?” This is a very pertinent question. My response is that astrological knowledge features in the earliest extant Buddhist literature. For example, the schedule of the monastic meeting (poṣadha) was traditionally coordinated with the lunar cycle as well as the 28 nakṣatras. A nakṣatra is a “lunar station” or constellation through which the Moon progresses—it takes about 27–28 days to cycle through all of them. In ancient India, there were originally 28 of these nakṣatras, each of which had astrological associations (for example, some are auspicious and others inauspicious). Buddhist activities were coordinated with these in mind.

The first day of Chinese New Year begins on the new moon that appears between 21 January and 20 February.[3] In 2021, the first day of the Chinese New Year was on Friday, 12 February, which is the Year of the Ox.

The new moon is a good time to start new projects.

Great resource. I think I heard Gurunath say Indian and Chinese culture have a lot in common.

Great resource. I think I heard Gurunath say Indian and Chinese culture have a lot in common.

Gurunath speaks rightly because Buddhism ☸️ , which developed more north of India in China, sprung out of Hinduism 🕉: although it’s influence remains, the Chinese communists tried to crush its imprint on Chinese culture... making the state into an authority rather than religion.

It is interesting you brought this up. Because most people in the western world associate the new year with the Sun crossing the equator. Although, Our celebration of New Year’s Day on January 1 is a human-made creation, not precisely fixed by any natural or seasonal marker. It’s a civil event, not one defined by nature. Yet, for us in the Northern Hemisphere – where daylight has ebbed to almost its lowest point and the days are starting to get longer again – there’s a feeling of rebirth in the air. That’s probably why New Year’s resolutions are so popular.

hich means it begins to get warmer in the northern hemisphere and colder in in the Southern Hemisphere. However, although it appears eastern celebrations do coincide with the Suns movement as well.. they choose the time of new beginnings ( the new 🌚 moon ), to celebrate, which seems to make more sense when considering what a New Years resolution signifies.

In astrology the new moon is a good time to start new projects and the best time of the month to do so.
Perhaps the angels agree... see picture below.

Thanks Eric; I’m meditating now for a while till the new year comes in. My hope is others will
join us. I’m sincerely praying that there is blessing to those who contributed to freely help others here and they will be remembered with  recognition of the blessings pouring on us all.

https://www.calendardate.com/chinese_new_year_2022.htm

Chinese New Year for the year 2022 is celebrated/ observed on Tuesday, February 1. This year the animal sign is the Tiger.

Chinese New Year is the first day of the New Year in the Chinese lunisolar calendar (Chinese traditional calendar). It is also known as the Lunar New Year or the Spring Festival. The first day of the festival begins on the New Moon sometime each year between January 21st and February 20th. The holiday/festival lasts 16 days from New Year’s Eve to the 15th day of the New Year which also happens to be the Lantern Festival.

No; besides your Chinese astrology sign is the 🦖 Tyrannosaurus Rex . Having this zodiac sign gives you an unusual and obsessive interest in conspiratorial and ‘tyrannical’ subjects as the name implies. Once you get your ‘teeth’ into such subjects the grip is strong and deadly. If you are interested in your reading for the Chinese lunacy New Year stay tuned as the continuous saga of political intrigue develops in the course of the lunacy cycle for the year.

Need I remind you?  Grin That's a lot of projection buddy- let's see... according to you, someone I've never met- I am an obsessive T-Rex, a mystical eerie and delusional in my thinking. Oh gee, how accommodating of you  Grin I think maybe my Chinese sign is not the T-REX but a Giant Mirror, reflecting back to you all these qualities you too are capable of.
What is your obsession with lizards anyways? LOL

You are completely right my friend. It was a joke! Sorry you took it seriously. But now everyone knows I do tell jokes. I do kid around. Some people don’t get it though so you have to tell them. Hey I was kidding . And, hey if you were offended in some way I’m sorry, and, hey I guess we need to be serious here at all times. And, hey who knows whose going to be offended next with jokes? And hey, let’s look at everything people say here and critique it on whether it was funny or just awful humor. And hey, if my jokes are offensive I guess I should never say anything about you again because you may think it is bad humor. And, hey maybe it is bad humor. And hey, I’m going to have to be careful about everything I say about you. Right. Because my humor is awful. Right? Lastly, and most importantly, if you are joking about me I’m perfectly fine with it.  Grin Love lizards, they remind me of good friends!

Now the lizard thing I actually laughed and smiled at knowing your strange energy that surrounds it. In fact nothing in this thread really bothered me. I was just hoping you'd realize that all the things you call me are you too. You really do antagonize. I've tried to adapt to your belittling behavior, even try to joke back but some days I really have to pray to god to be released from that energy. You may think it's a personal problem, and it could be. But you should know I am a member of three other forums. One of which I've been a member longer than I have here. I haven't had this problem anywhere else. The only other person I've had this problem with was a man that had borderline personality disorder. He too would blame me and his joking would be to poke fun at the person. I don't know if that kind of behavior has ever come back to haunt you- I hope not.

As for the Chinese zodiac. I am actually more reptilian in nature than I realized. I am the dragon.  Shocked  Grin
