The winter solstice is coming up soon: December 21. What makes this winter solstice quite different than most is that there will be a conjunction of two major planets in alignment. Both Jupiter and Saturn.

Let’s first talk about what is almost always true for December 21st of any year- it is the Solstice.

The Solstice is a time where the veil between dimensions is thin. It is also a time where we are more open and connected with the energies of the Earth.

We are able to feel with greater ease that we are not just beings on this Earth, but beings of the Earth.
The Solstice is also the start of a new season depending on where in the world you live, and a new season always brings a transition of energy.

The December Solstice was chosen for this day as it was said to signify a “return to the light.”

In 2020, December 21st, stands out as being a potent day, not just because of the Solstice, but also due to a very rare alignment taking place this year known as the Grand Conjunction.

Furthermore, there is also a Total Solar Eclipse just before this on December 14, which also adds to the energy.

The Solar Eclipse opens a portal to a brand new beginning and the Grand Conjunction a few days later will amplify this portal energy.

The Grand Conjunction 2020

The Grand conjunction occurs every twenty years or so, and is when both Jupiter and Saturn align at the same degree of the zodiac.

The Grand Conjunction represents a changing of an era, and a time where we shift our way of viewing the world.

As our world view changes, so too does society and the way we choose to approach things.

While the Grand Conjunction happens every couple of decades, the 2020 alignment opens the door to an even bigger cycle.

For the last 200 years, Jupiter and Saturn have been aligning only in earth signs, but this year, on December 21st, 2020, Jupiter and Saturn will align in the air sign of Aquarius.*

* according to tropical astrology. In Jyotish astrology these two planets will align in Capricorn. The point being here, is that regardless of the signs used there still will be a grand conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter at the winter solstice which heightens the energy at this time.

Swami described this mid-point in a mini era for astrology as contrasting forces- an inhalation and exhalation. Today I was reminded of this symbology while reflecting on the experience of time during 2020. This year has felt both as having gone by too fast and having been dragged out. As a material creature bound to time and space, I wonder if this feeling is any way relatable with astrology.

Yea I would say so Eric because of the closeness of the two planets Jupiter and Saturn 🪐 to one another all year. Jupiter wants to expand and Saturn - the planet of time and reflection- wants to slow things down. Your insights are appreciated. Conflicting energies are part of the dualities we experience in life. Accepting them in ourselves and others is a big step to make for most people. However for me it is also a challenge to rise above the dualities that can keep the consciousness in agitation with mental turmoil.

The waves of consciousness flow in one direction then suddenly people and situations change around us and find us clashing with other waves. Gaining access to the depths is the challenge to every meditation. Diving deep below the restless waves that keep our mind in turmoil. The tidal forces we often resist keep us in restless turmoil.

Sometimes we just have to look at what our typical day consists of and how we live it. How much time are we giving to our different daily activities? Many challenges do not have instant solutions. We just go through life with awareness of how we spend the moments.

Saturn and Jupiter are now both in Aquarius which represents something new in us that involves the benefit of us all. There will be a new understanding of humanity with these to planets coming together in Aquarius.

In their closest alignment in 800 years, Jupiter and Saturn will create a wonder: A Christmas Star

It's actually the alignment of two planets—Jupiter and Saturn—which happens every 20 years or so. But it's not always in December and it's been nearly 800 years—we're talking Middle Ages—since they got this close. Technically, the two largest planets in our solar system will still be hundreds of millions of miles apart. But Dec. 21, from our vantage point, they'll look like they're nearly touching, creating a radiant point of light that's being dubbed the Christmas Star, or Star of Bethlehem, for obvious reasons.

Making it even more special: Dec. 21 also marks the winter solstice—the longest night of the year, the tipping point where daylight once again starts gaining ground on darkness.

Gotta love the symbolism.

"A little bit of cosmic perspective," said Justin Mason, director of Old Dominion University's Pretlow Planetarium. Not to mention spiritual—a page out of the Bible, telling of an unusual star that led the wise men to the baby Jesus.

Astronomers have long theorized that the nativity star might have really been an alignment, known as a conjunction. Mason says a rare conjunction of Jupiter, Venus and a bright star named Regulus occurred around 2 B.C.
