“One way to practice detachment is to connect to the inner Presence, then offer up whatever you’re trying to get free of.”

When I feel that inner peace from meditation it is much easier to be detached from worry and anxiety and the events in life that can bring us down.

“When things are going well for us, when we feel strong and positive, when we're healthy and full of inspiration, when we're in love, it's easy to wonder why the yogic texts carry on so much about detachment. When we're faced with loss, grief, or failure, it looks much more appealing—our practice in detachment becomes a lifeline that can move us out of acute suffering into something close to peace.”

What I have noticed is that different experiences in our lives leave us with different spiritual lessons and sometimes we feel inertia: not really wanting to do much of anything because we cannot grasp what is taking place in our lives and why. I mean we may see the outer events and outcomes taking place but we may not completely find the spiritual wisdom behind them. Sure everything that takes place is karmic related but we may often ask ourselves ‘what is it i can do to be graceful about the events that are unfolding? How could have I acted better and now how will I act—or in some cases not react—to the people and circumstances in my life?
