Experiencing bad moods in others is not often easy. Just wondering how you handle it? I have seen and know that yogis warn people who do not meditate and eat meat are more susceptible to mood swings and bad moods. I think that sometimes we just have to consider living alone if it is possible to protect our spiritual environment. In a list of bad food to eat and in order of the worst first that deter spiritual progress;

1. Pork
2. Beef
3. Bottom eaters as in shrimp, clams, lobsters, clams etc.

The moods of other people can definitely contribute to a challenging spiritual environment.

Number 1 cardinal rule for spiritual environment; avoid grumpy people. Also I think it is important to consider whether you yourself may be the perceived cause of the grumpiness. Everyone has a choice to be happy but we cannot help everyone around us in their happiness. Many times we find that people continue to ruin their own happiness and do not nurture it.

It brings me happiness to come here this morning. We are all making a conscious effort to bring up our own vibration and help lift others up in the process.

I have been around people for the last five days. It is interesting to evaluate my own mood swings. I have found myself very happy most of this summer. I believe this can be attributed to all the time I have been able to spend alone meditating at a remote place on Lake Michigan up in the dunes and on the shoreline.

After the last five days I find myself a bit more discouraged this morning. I am grateful for friends though most of them have been of a musical variety for the last few days. In fact I practiced with and talked with five musically talented people the last several days. Most of these friends do not meditate regularly. Today I felt somewhat depleted by their energies. I should qualify this by saying that other people were around also who were friends and that I am very grateful to have these friends in my life.

I think it is important to recognize that we need downtime to cleanse ourselves of the energies of others despite the benefits they may offer to our lives. We need downtime to unwind and replenish ourselves with cosmic forces that bring us peace and happiness so we can be energize our and environment and the people in it as well as ourselves.

I have observed that moods in others are likely motivated by ego. That is we or others are not getting our / their ego satisfied or feel they /we have been deprived of certain comforts we seek and therefore get irritated, non communicative and even angry.

Observing our own moods can often give us a fair reading as to how our ego is controlling us.

I’ve had quite a few experiences with the moods of those around me lately. It made me wonder how much my moods affect others. Although sometimes I find the moods of others around me so oppressive that I am glad to get out doors and away from them to cleanse my own aura. The fresh air and sunlight of spring is helpful. I’ve seen people and been around people who rarely if ever meditate and eat meat regularly and the wrong foods to uplift our moods. There is nothing to do if people have no intention of changing. At some point we have to recognize that we must look after ourselves and the environment we choose.

I was just commenting on how I notice that people who eat meat regularly become morose. But I have also noticed I do not function well around those who are constantly disagreeable and can’t except any criticism. It causes discomfortable and distorted vibrations in their environment. Unless you are a Master or a Saint, it is very difficult to raise your own vibrations in such frequencies.
