Working on our Enlightenment

Could I be wrong about this? I think we have to constantly observe our own perceptions and thoughts. Enlightenment is something we need to not only seek but nurture, develop and cultivate.

Absolutely. Seeing as we've not obtained mastery over the pull of our mind or desires of the flesh, careful observation and practice is required to strengthen our body, our mind and our will. Free-will also means choosing which thoughts are worth nourishing and which are not.

My question is.
Why must we suffer from the weight of conflicting or opposite thoughts?

Stillness is liberating... I feel my restlessness comes from this resistance by trying to identify with thoughts and impulses when there's a part of me trying to break free from such contrast to begin with. I believe because we are so engrossed with our densest incarnation and because our Ego has long reigned supreme that the way we think things ought to be is most likely a byproduct of this changeable Ego or the product of someone elses design. Like western-society training you with what is considered sexy or desirable.

I think the way we think things ought to be is usually erroneous since we can go through what was once defined an undesirable experience but this time learn something new which changes our perspective and impressions altogether.

Lately my practices are analyzing which thoughts are selfish or violent and trying to let them go. I'm not really doing well with this discipline at the moment. This adoption of nonviolence however is inspired by the Saints who help us identify with God/soul rather than body/Ego.

The moment we start to work on ourselves, the more we realize how little control we actually have over our own bodies and minds.

The Joker seems unimpressed. No conspiracy entertainment, simply an awareness that prolonged exposure to modern western culture has a potential for serious damage to our spiritual aspirations. I suppose you could say this is true no matter where you are in the world. We think we are so fortunate here in the USA, and while we have so many freedoms that are of value, our culture has seriously diminished thanks to easy profits that promote egocentric behavior. There is also an attack on the history that defines our culture which is becoming a thing of little concern for the modern American.

To your initial post,
We are constantly needing to observe and practice techniques that might keep us anchored in cosmic awareness. It is a battle we struggle with on a daily basis. Religion and sacred rites were meant to transcend but the level of greed is almost as great as is the desire for Progress. May you be blessed with total success and mastery.

I actually think you are hilarious sometimes. I wish you could see me. I am laughing now. It’s just the way you describe things. ‘We’re a product of someone else’s design.’ Lol that could only come from your thoughts. Yea I’m a product of my designer sunglasses! I wear designer clothes with the labels of the best plaques on the front of my shirt. And even my Calvin Klien underwear. I mean my God I wouldn’t want any woman to see anything but the best. Right? I think you missed the designer suit I was wearing. Look at the label near my lapel. ( my last entry.) Press my figure and you can see I am engrossed with the drama. OMG

Since we've been blessed by masters, great servants of humanity, with their offerings for salvation- we should make the effort to practice what we do know. Even just 10 minutes of dedication to practices and devotion is developing right action.
