I am   Cheesy  grateful to Amma for giving us the IAM technique. It does have some things to memorize (slow by slow) yet it keeps the restless mind occupied and slows it down a few paces until we are feeling the peace of meditation. This morning I practiced it with one of Amma's devotees and I felt soooooo peaceful afterwards.

Jitendra (the name Amma gave me)

INTEGRATED AMRITA MEDITATION (IAM) TECHNIQUE
The IAM - Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique® is a powerful way to reconnect with our real center, our inner Self, and thereby experience true joy and peace in life. Born out of Amma's divine inspiration, this meditation technique, when practiced with dedication, is designed to bring about integration in our lives - an integration of body, mind, intellect and heart.

For those searching for the fulfillment in material life, the meditation technique will serve as a powerful key. A key to open channels of creativity and self-expression, help one to lead a more balanced life and give a more positive outlook.

One of the main functions for this meditation technique is to channel our energies properly so that we can tap into the unexplored realms of our talents. This technique also helps one to relax, both physically and mentally, and to lead a tension-free life.

Cost: The meditation class itself is free, but there may be a reimbursement fee for printing costs and venue costs for the full day IAM classes.

Really enjoy the stretches and physical routine at the beginning of the iam technique. It really doesn’t take effort. Just an open snd relaxed mind that transfers into the comfortable body stretches and the relaxation (savasana) pose at the end of the meditation routine. Thank-You Amma!

Been reading mothers IAM techniques recently. Sometimes we get some of the routine scrambled and make up our own routine. Anyhow I’ve always enjoyed her short meditation techniques which differ than the SRF techniques which are quite involved and I practice daily.

I find that keeping the mind occupied is the most important aspect of meditation for me because even in doing a simple mantra, it is quite possible that most of the time our minds are wondering from the mantra on people, places and things we are doing in our lives. Although a technique that keeps your mind occupied like the IAM or Kriya technique are helpful in keeping the mind focused on the present and not on what we are going to do and have done. It is simple, because it is very difficult to write a letter or write out a form without thinking, or more specifically being aware of what we are writing ✍️. Likewise, it is difficult to complete a Kriya or follow the steps of the IAM technique without paying attention to what is being done.

i find myself focused on writing this post now and making it understandable to others as well as being satisfied with its intent and conveyance. In the same way I find myself focusing on the procedure and techniques of meditation when I want them to be done effectively.  Which at times, i am able to expand this consciousness that at times I’ve experienced during meditation. And at times, experience the peace that passeth all understanding in our hour to hour and day to day activities.

INTEGRATED AMRITA MEDITATION TECHNIQUE®
IAM is a simple combination of yoga, pranayama and meditation that takes just 20 minutes a day. It is a meditation technique for modern days. The technique is a synthesis of traditional, time-tested methods suited for the current mental conditions, time-constraints and needs of modern man. The Art of Mental Mastery
Meditation is the art of mental mastery. The way we perceive the world around us completely depends upon our mind. In our search for happiness, we essentially have two options

modify the entire world so that everything turns out exactly the way we want it or modify our mind so that we are able to be happy, content and peaceful, regardless of what happens in the external world. The former is obviously impossible. We have very little control over our external world. The only hope for happiness lies in controlling the inner world. Meditation is a key element in this process.
Take up the Remote Control of Your Mind
Amma, the Spiritual Master who synthesized IAM
 –
Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique®, says, "The remote control of our mind should rest firmly in the palm of our hand." Imagine one with such mental control. Emotions, ideas and memories are at his beck and call. If anger comes, he can change the channel. The same with jealousy and greed. He can recall any past event, like reversing a DVD. If he wants ideas, he only need turn to the "idea channel" and a stream of creative ideas will flow forth. No more staring
at the blank screen of writer’s block. Total and complete mental control—
this is what IAM (Meditation) offers.
Daily Mental Maintenance

The mind is like a machine. But it is completely up to us to maintain that machine properly. Only then will we be able to get the maximum potential out of it. We should also know how to turn the machine off. This, sadly, has become a lost art, and the very reason we see so many people around us "blowing fuses." IAM (Meditation) Technique is a daily mental maintenance system.

Weboflife, you mentioned having respiratory issues. The IAM technique does not extend the breath as much as the higher SRF meditation techniques. That is my take on it, so you may find it a helpful addition to your meditation practice. Amma is quite open about her IAM technique and does not have as focused approach as SRF. What I mean by that is that she sees nothing interfering with her practice. She just would like us not to combine different meditation techniques. Practice the SRF meditation techniques separately from other practices.

I am very grateful for my experience with the Self Realization Fellowship. In all my years involved though they do seem to have the attitude that nothing else is needed. I do not dispute their attitude. I just have found for me that some other practices…. They add variety and new approaches that are quite different in some ways. So I have found that for instance the feminine approach to the divine has helped me and my spiritual aspirations. Especially coming from what I consider a Master as Anandamoy Ma  is and Amma is also.

Thanks for the info, Steve, but I thought it was a higher SRF technique. I'm all out trying to better my practice of the techniques I have so will not add anything from the outside. Just my take on it, though, everyone must find their own way.

That is understandable, but like Paramahansa Yogananda you may find being with Masters and saints an added benefit and Adavantage if they return to your area.
