Mother Amma says that we do not always recognize the spiritual progress we are making.It is somewhat like throwing pure water into salt water. It wiil take sometime to dilute the water enough that the salt is no longer tasted. Nevertheless we are purifying the salted waters of our consciousness. We have many distractions due to our past tendencies.We must not pay attention to our negative thoughts. There are many unfulfilled expectations in the human mind.

Because of negativity we are not able to open our hearts. When we think about fleeting pleasures in front of us we are sacrificing peace within. The amount of mental illness is increasing because the outward expression of negativity is increasing. In this sense we have become like artificial chickens with our immune system down. When we take a dog out for a walk it is prone to walk off. Such is the state of our thoughts unless we put them on a leash.
