Title: Comfortable Meditation Positions Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on May 08, 2022 01:16 am It's what IS and what in many cases, is not. Or better phrased, simply the working of our mind. Gurunath wants nothing to do with the quagmires of our mind. I've experienced a type of breath that would massage my consciousness and allow me to be Peace free from personality. Like existing outside my self. I'm having trouble lately. Despite using the same meditative posture I've had for ages, these last few years my leg falls asleep after 20 minutes. It's also been difficult navigating physical ailments and holding my own energy. I had that challenge for some years. My legs would go to sleep and after a while it was painful. I found a way to overcome it. It doesn’t always work, but is it worth a try. Put a pillow under your butt to lift yourself forward so your blood flows more easily to your legs. Or sit on a hill so the legs are facing more downward. The other possibility is to meditate sitting on a chair which most SRFers did when I was at their services. They had cushioned chairs and the legs weren’t usually crossed. I myself never really cared for that kind of meditation position. I remember going to Buddhist meditations and they always sat on the floor with big cushions around. But I still cannot over emphasis the energization exercises from SRF and Amma’s IAM technique to help keep the body in shape, especially if you are not regularly going to Hatha Yoga classes. After about 20-30 years of meditation though my knees started to ache so I had to fall back on the sitting-on-chair posture. Now, after about 44 years of practice I find I have nearly no time to meditate, but I'm enjoying again the cross-legged posture with the little I can do. It's powerful. Also, as Steve says, a pretty high cushion or a hill on the ground or whatsoever keeps your butt more elevated than the feet, I've always found it necessary.
