Despite my thoughts, about some of the cognitive issues associated with marijuana I also want to include some of its benefits from pain, which I felt much relief when years ago having neuropathy associated with cancer that was very painful. Smoking cannabis intermittently for about a week, on and off helped relieve the pain immensely.

In some ways marijuana can be seen as similar to the affects of meditation, because it gives a similar perspective of seeing the body and mind from a viewing position. I recommend meditation as having this interesting perspective. Although I remember as a teenager experimenting with marijuana it encouraged me to work on gaining a similar perspective through meditation.

I can say nothing about the subject because I've always been a health nerd and considered all drugs deleterious.

I'm aware of the medical properties of the substance though.

Just as well. I’m more of experimenter and that has its benefits and detriments…. I was listening to Daya Mata talk once at Mount Washington and remember her specifically saying… ‘what is this pot you call… not good for us who our meditating. ‘

What I noticed over the years being involved with Self/Realization Fellowship the monastics usually did not give hard and fast rules but would more often resort to council moderation in all things.
