Mixed feelings what do you think? Sometimes I'm overcome by feelings about these type of people.

What are you talking about?

Hey don't ask me your the expert around here. Just do a little past life regression; I'm sure it will all become clear. The only mixture I know is drambuie and coffee late at night to sooth the nerves and it feels warm all the way down.

Hey corn ball. And you...you never felt ambivalence about anything or anybody?

Excuse me, corn ball? If you just write gobbledygook no one knows what you're talking about. I thought my question was perfectly reasonable. I don't know what you thought but I won't just take it off ya like that. If you want someone to give noogies to you better go find one. I'm not a monk.

Now for your question. I think we all obviously feel mixed feelings, about people, places, and things. Especially to the extent that we are psychologically divided. The split is within us and has little to do with the outer person, place, or thing itself. That's my ten cents.

All the best, Steve

 :)

If I overreacted to your comment above, sorry. Maybe I didn't "get it" but it seemed somewhat passive aggressive to me.

:D

I want to say this. I think that enlightenment is the end of all mixed feelings. Until then, we will be stuck in mixed feelings over something or other because that is the nature of mind - it is fragmentation, broken up, muddy.

There is no clarity. There is the internal friction of thoughts battling each other. The waves on the water are constantly shaking.

An enlightened person, on the other hand, does not have these internal divisions. In a sense, she is whole-ly.

Does any of that resonate with you?

Namaste

I was responding to Alfie. If you notice the response was rite after his and I did not quote u.

Do we always have to make sense? Sometimes gooble gook breaks the monotony of a rational mind trying in vain to make reality fit our own prescribed thought patterns. Thus we have art and music.

The original question was posed in such a way to get responses--Not really to explain MY mixed feelings. Just wondered what people think about ambivalence. What I have found is that people have difficulty dealing with their ambivalence and will often split off part of their personality and the people that represent it in an attempt to make sense out of their own reality. We have even seen much of that happen here on the forum over the years.

Since being a corn ball is part of a projection of my own inner reality I doubt that u will see much reaction from Alfie. Yet your reactions  are noteworthy.

How is it that people looking for a helping hand tend to overlook the one at the end of their own arm?

Something about ambivalence. It is much like mixed nuts at the bottom of a can and mixed feelings underneath and at the bottom of someone's feelings-- they are both to be avoided because they leave an awful salty aftertaste.

Maybe in many instances it is good to have friends at a distance to avoid such feelings and to accentuate positive feelings.

We can talk about what it is like to be enlightened but we often find ourselves dealing with real to life situations in which we have yet to rise above. In many circumstances it is difficult to expose ourselves to the constant presence of others who trigger and instigate drama in and around us. In many instances it may be wise to maintain a comfortable distance.
