Title: Parents; what we've attracted
Post by: Jitendra Hy-do-u-no-us? on Aug 08, 2013 06:48 am
Are you serious ?
(You've shared other stories of your father, and he could be quite the performer,... so I wouldn't put this past him to be so flamboyant to have a gimick parrot !  )

I think I see where you get some of your joker manifest -- from your father !   uh huh !

I thank Eric for bringing up the subject of the parrot. One thing leads to another and now we started talking about parents. I believe we are brought into karmic situations that are helpful for spiritual growth. We may not seem to think so in the beginning of our lives but as time goes on we begin to understand why we choose the parents we've had; to fulfilll certain desires and to learn lessons in life. They often have some of the same abilities and talents as we do so that we can continue to develop ours.

He (my father) used to give 'Bob' gum. You should have seen the expression on his face as his jaws moved side to side he would tilt his head as if to say.: Not sure about this. Yes he really did have such a parrot. Think if he was taught to say. Ooom Guru and God Christ Gurus all day.
He might have been enlightened and thought of as God coming back as a parrot to remind us to practice the presence and not parrot the words!

Thanks Namaste2All. Perhaps one of the reasons I had him as a father was to teach me to take life lighter and have a sense of humor about it. What about the rest of you and your parents?

Steve

My parents were both charming and beautiful people but they did not get along well and had terrible fights that would sometimes become violent.  My dad was a policeman, a detective sergeant, and he worried when his children became rebellious in the 1970s.  My mother was more of the rebel type herself.  She was a spiritual seeker and loved art and music.  She had charming ways and loved to talk to people that she'd meet on the street.  She loved healthful food and nature and animals.  My dad was more of an introvert and liked to read a lot rather than socialize as much as my mother.  I see both of my parents in myself.  The buck stops here, though, I didn't have any children, myself.  The idea that I may have been my parents parents in a former life is a bizarre concept to me.  That I may have known someone who I instantly somehow feel connected to, in a previous life, could be the answer...  it could explain the effortless attraction I feel to certain people that come into my life...

Thank-You for sharing with us Serena. It leaves one wondering; just how we have shared with others thru lifetimes. Often we can get glimpses of understanding thru meditation and intuitive perceptions. We can see how we replay old tapes with others. This helps us want to change these old tunes into songs that fit our present evolution and not worn out records. As usual your paintings lend a beautifully inspiring nature to the subject matter at hand.
