Title: Existential Threat Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Sep 18, 2024 03:19 pm I am making a rather unusual proclamation here. That is because of meditation I have learned that today our world is experiencing an existential threat to its survival. Most people have little to no understanding the threat posed by climate change. If they did they would willingly take precautions to prevent and avoid it. In fact I see this happening nowhere in the United States with the possible exceptionof California.
In most Super markets people are still using plastic bags, ignoring the fact that there are two sizes of the state of Texas filled with plastic in the Pacific Ocean. And there is still a huge section of our population willing to support a man who is totally in the dark about the dangers of climate change in the world. Instead he is supporting an economic policy engaging us in more fossil fuels in a misguided attempt to stimulate the economy. This is the ignorance shown by Donald Trump. Title: Re: Existential Threat Post by: mccoy on Sep 18, 2024 10:12 pm The issue is pretty complex, if we cease to use fossil fuels right now, there will not be enough energy and widespread unemployment with riots and social disruption will soon erupt. I haven't heard a practical proposal so far, maybe because there is not a reasonable alternative presently.
Besides, everyone, China and India included, should cease to spread CO2 emissions. China will probably never comply. Neither will India. I am pretty pessimistic about this issue. If global warming really ensues in a global disaster, it will be too late to remedy it, humanity will be decimated, emissions will naturally decline and the climate will again normalize. I see it quite differently mccoy. If we as individuals seek a good future for our souls progress and upward evolution we must do are part, regardless of what others do or what happens to our planet. We should also vote for candidates that attempt to create an environment that is better and not live by old habits. There are times in history that call for a revolutionary change in attitudes, values and actions, despite the fallout. Being practical is not always the best approach when it does not have consequences that are helpful to Mother Earth and our stewardship to our planet. If a country does what is ethically right it’s karma and soul evolution will be rewarded despite what other countries do. Some people and countries must show leadership. We have that opportunity. Title: Re: Existential Threat Post by: mccoy on Sep 19, 2024 06:21 pm I am ready to do my party, as most people who are not rich are, actually, emissions are costly, fuels are very expensive, so people do not waste them. Some retired ones do not even turn on heating during the winter because they cannot afford that. What is find is missing, is a viable alternative. So far. Solar energy is great, but domestic installation and maintenance have a cost. In some countries there are huge solar power plants, in construction like that in Saudi Arabia. That's good. Lots of sun radiation in the desert! https://www.eiu.com/n/saudi-arabia-launches-worlds-largest-solar-power-plant/ |
