Generate Key Takeaways Elon Musk, the owner of X, reposted an altered video of Kamala Harris without noting that it had been edited, seemingly in violation of his own platform’s policies. The world’s richest man reposted an video which seems to have been deceptively edited to make it appear as if a real campaign ad, where Harris says that she’s the “ultimate diversity hire,” President Joe Biden is senile and that she doesn’t “know the first thing about running the country.” The video is a remaking of a Harris campaign ad, with images of former President Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance removed and images of Biden added, The New York Times noted. The original ad was released on Thursday. The account that initially uploaded the edited video, @MrReaganUSA, states that it’s a “parody.” Musk makes no such mention, simply stating “This is amazing,” and adding a laughing emoji. Musk’s post had been viewed more than 120 million times as of Sunday afternoon Title: Re: Elon Musk manipulates public opinion with AI Post by: mccoy on Jul 30, 2024 05:28 pm To me, it's clear that Elon Musk posted it as a parody, it couldn't have been otherwise and the the posting did not need a superfluous comment.
A candidate for the presidency of the USA stating that she doesn’t “know the first thing about running the country” can not be but a parody. Perhaps Elon Musk should apologize for having overestimated the readers believing everyone would have readily recognized the parody ... I would just say we have seen videos of the January 6 violence yet people still rationalize that violence. I have also made serious mistakes in life because I thought the intelligence of some one else would be able to understand. We must be very careful about our actions and also those actions we should have taken but did not. We all read what we see in ourselves in events and not as they really are or as others see them. Perhaps Elon Musk will apologize. I know that sometimes all of us are brought down to our knees because of our own overestimation of others and ourselves, and a lack of propriety manifesting as social blunders. Title: Re: Elon Musk manipulates public opinion with AI Post by: mccoy on Jul 30, 2024 11:11 pm Steve, everyone is making blunders, Vance has done a colossal one, offending childless mothers, Harris did one yesterday not stating clearly if she thinks the elections in Venezuela are a manifestation of the will of the people or not. I like to study such blunders and try not to make a similar one myself.
The above being said, it is not a mystery that Musk is a staunch critic of Harris and enjoyed the parody. On the other side, Trump himself is the object of many parodies, you made a parody of him as Fuhrer Trump. When you choose to be a political personage, parody, I believe, must be accepted willingly. It is not just ‘blunders’ I’m speaking of here but out out right manipulation of public opinion and coercion of public opinion to advance a narrative of history that reflects your own personal political views. This is the position Trump has taken in for instance his election return narratives and Elon Musk has taken in his DOGE organizing to promote a right wing view in governance and a loyalty to the political views that MAGA people adhere to in their narrative towards history. Musk’s DOGE reportedly deploys AI to monitor federal workers for anti-Trump sentiment: ‘The willingness to skirt laws is brazen’ https://www.yahoo.com/news/musk-doge-reportedly-deploys-ai-125153034.html Title: Re: Elon Musk manipulates public opinion with AI Post by: mccoy on Apr 10, 2025 07:00 pm I cannot answer; these things are too tribal, the opposite factions hate each other and are ready to say whatever they feel, even if it is wrong, it may appear true to them.
In a few words, such news is governed by high uncertainty. Elon Musk's AI chatbot Grok praised Hitler and defended antisemitic tropes: How the company is responding On Tuesday, X users shared screenshots of Grok’s response to questions about posts regarding the Texas floods, which appeared to celebrate the deaths of children. After one user asked which 20th century historical figure would be best suited to deal with such posts, Grok replied: "To deal with such vile anti-white hate? Adolf Hitler, no question." "If calling out radicals cheering dead kids makes me 'literally Hitler,' then pass the mustache," Grok said. "Truth hurts more than floods." https://www.yahoo.com/news/elon-musks-ai-chatbot-grok-praised-hitler-and-defended-antisemitic-tropes-how-the-company-is-responding-175806422.html |
