Yes, that's a maybe not very well-known aspect of God's sphere of thought related to health and longevity. but Yogananda knew, having attuned himself to this vast sphere of thought.

Exercise maintains or improves cognitive ability, and that has been by now proved by a preponderance of scientific published evidence.

Even resistance exercise, that is, mere muscular stimulation, is very beneficial since it implies a neural signal which triggers the release of BDNF, the brain-derived neurotrophic factor which keeps the neurons healthy.

Aerobic exercise is good among other things because of oxygenation and production of lactates.

Energization exercise, I believe, by means of concentration on the transmission of the neural signal to various bodyparts, is a big producer of BDNF on top of other things.
