Title: Being Alone
Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on May 04, 2024 11:24 am
Being alone for a spell gives me more time to practice some meditation and get things done that go unattended.

When we are in the presence of the Gurus we are not alone, even though we may seem to be alone in the world. Sometimes when it feels we are alone it may be that we have become too involved with the world and need to reestablish our connection with our spiritual guides and Masters.

I feel alone sometimes but find myself meditating when I get that way. It’s the best time to express your feelings to spirit and God.

Being alone, and having the blessings of a quiet spot to observe breath and thoughts is a blessing. It provides the right atmosphere and conditions to interiorize consciousness.

We all are ultimately alone in this life and when we finally start realizing it ….when the spirit begins to enter our lives and reorient every idea and obstacle that stood in our way from our past there is a new dawn to take away the past that has led us towards salvation.

Thich Nhat Hanh found an ancient teaching from the Buddha where he instructed his disciples before he died to use the following affirmation:

"I take refuge in the island of myself."

The Buddha was worried that the disciples would lose their way after he died so he gave them this as a reminder that they need to retreat within where all the wisdom he had given is found.

Your post reminded me of this because we can all feel alone at times I imagine but "solitude is the price of greatness" as our Guru reminds us. So to conflate the two teachings we can and should take refuge in our solitude.

What a beautiful thought dear friend;

“The Buddha was worried that the disciples would lose their way after he died so he gave them this as a reminder that they need to retreat within where all the wisdom he had given is found.”

Sometimes I feel impelled to be alone and just contemplate and meditate. It is a good time to explore the inner world and avoid the alluring distraction's that often take us away from the greatness you mentioned here.

Although it is also wonderful to know kindred souls to remind us of our inner purpose in this life.
