Title: Ornery People Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Mar 12, 2024 05:51 pm I have found the best way to deal with such people is to get out of their presence if we have the ability to do so. Cantankerous behaviors have a lot to do with people not choosing to be happy and attempting to take a paths that leads them to happiness. Happiness is a choice and there are ways to be happy despite challenging circumstances. We must take responsibility for our own happiness. No one will do it for us.
We have the tools before us to help us be happy; meditation and spiritual practices and being in the presence of others that are happy, even though it may not be physically; the help of higher forces are there to help us find our own happiness. If we have found happiness we may find some people see us as foolish in our happiness. It is best to just move on and let them think as they will about us. Title: Re: Ornery People Post by: tides2dust on Mar 12, 2024 07:42 pm The real question I have is why do some people rub us the wrong way when they're just being themselves? We're all guilty of being made irritable, some more than others. https://youtu.be/rOTd39Vruns?si=U7Y64ewF87tYs_H7 The source of truth is within man; he himself is the object of his realization. Bowl of Saki, March 12, by Hazrat Inayat Khan Commentary by Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan: Heaven is not a country or a continent; it is a state, a condition within oneself, only experienced when the rhythm is in perfect working order. If one knows this, one realizes that happiness is man's own property. Man is his own enemy: he seeks for happiness in the wrong direction and never finds it. It is a continual illusion. Man thinks, 'If I had this or that I should be happy for ever', and he never arrives at happiness because he pursues an illusion instead of the truth. Happiness is only to be found within, and when man tunes himself he finds all for which his soul yearns within himself. from https://wahiduddin.net/mv2/XIV/XIV_2_21.htm "Proceed as way opens" Quote Proceed as way opens or As way opens, is an encouragement to live with a kind of intentionality and willingness to “be” with a question or decision rather that jump to a rash action out of panic or pressure. This idea goes counter to our culture that lifts up quick, decisive decision making as strong and desirable. But with the concept of As way opens, even though there are occasions when decisions are time sensitive, there can still be a pause, a way of checking in with our heart and your own deep knowing. https://www.awakin.org/v2/read/view.php?tid=2550...Yes the planet is heating up and terrible injustice and wars are happening, democracy is in peril. But when I allow myself the pause then I can move forward grounded in what I love and not what I fear. I’ve also known that when I have jumped into a decision that I knew deep down wasn’t setting right, but was compelled to move out of fear or panic, impatience or ego, it has never really gone all that well. It's a simple phrase as way opens. But its not always so simple to live out. But the wisdom of the inner pause has been pretty consistent. |
