I have really never gone too much into the concept and experience of retrograde planets in the birth chart. Most of the talks I’ve given were about for instance the movement of Mercury retrograde in peoples daily lives.

But after having the good fortune of friends like Eric, mccoy, Art and Kelly here at the portal, I decided it is past time to explore such phenomena. Eric has 4 retrograde planets in his chart and mccoy has 3, Art and Kelly both have 2. So I want to go over some of this now unless someone is unreceptive to the idea.

In Eric’s tropical as well as his sidereal chart Uranus, Neptune and Saturn are all in the 12th house of the unconscious. We could look at this as a karmic phenomena generated by past life expressions yet unresolved. Astrology is not necromancy. There is the element of divine order apart from free will. Free will can be the same as saying “I do what I want.” Or conversely we can align are will to a divine purpose. An astrologer needs to be able to assess the consciousness of the individual and the approach the native is taking towards karmic factors manifesting in this life.

The planets Saturn, Neptune and Uranus are higher harmonics or octaves of Mars, Venus and Mercury respectively. In the case of Eric, although living out a karmic past with misuse of lower energies of these planets is certainly a possibility and has been shown in some of Eric’s life, I see the higher expressions of these planets manifesting in both his behaviors and life quest. There is a yod or destiny of fate expressed and revealed through understanding the unconscious and specifically in Eric’s case the unconscious life and manifestation of dreams, which is part of a self expression (5th house planets) and its use in relationships (7th house).
