Paramahansa Yogananda in Denver, Colorado, 1931.

If you could imagine being a part of that generation (1931) and seeing someone from India with their long hair and Indian ocher robe. Do you think you could ‘see’ beyond your suit and tie, that a Master was sitting in your presence? Your photos inspire spiritual insights. See reply #5 for photo.

Thanks, Steve. I think that's the intention of such pictures in the first place: For us to draw spiritual inspiration and insight.  :)

Sometimes I’ve wondered in the last couple years but I think you have brought up a good point and I hope we use pictures in the future with that goal in mind.

I put your post in at ‘Helpful Announcements’ under ‘Mission Statements’ at the top of the site.

I spent 6 years at a Vivekananada Monastery in Ganges Michigan. I developed a valuable friendship with a couple of monks their. It is difficult to maintain relationships with everyone I’ve met . They are so far away, but in physical distance only.

Anandamayi Ma - "The Bliss-Permeated Mother" known from Autobiography of a Yogi.

Imagine what it would have been like to be in her physical presence. Perhaps some of us were and have vague recollections of that bliss and peace. Or maybe we are and sense her presence now.

Roger that, Captain.  ;)

Not much Brother; not much at all. When her love surrounds me. I sense her presence as one of her devotees when Paramahansa Yogananda wanted to take her with him to the United States, but her devotees rejected 🙅 such a proposal. How can anyone resist such love? I saw it in Amma as well. There was no ‘captain’ left when her love diminished this entity to a pool of tears shed because of that love. Thanks for such a wonderful reminder.

Thanks Uwe for all these amazing photos and stories to go alongside them. The colorization is super cool. I have visited Anandamayi Ma in a dream, she was very playful and expansive. She really enjoyed that expansive sensation and playing in the ocean. She didn't get wet and kind of floated herself towards a chair. She still has chelas that follow her closely. Her expression is enough to bring a seeker to tears.

Maybe because she is a mirror showing us Truth. Something we all recognize deep down...

my favorite quote by Anandamayi Ma,
"Even afterwards, though the dance of creation changed around me in the halls of eternity, I shall be the same.”

That part stood out to me most.

And I love that she has peacocks in the photo... I think of her, 14 and the peacock angel as all somehow intermingled... Maybe like Angelic representation.

Peter baba.

A prayer for us all Uwe.

This world is just a passing show…..
One day this will be gone.
Now we are in this body.
Now we are in this moment of life.
It cannot last forever.
This is a time to get realization.

I have this feeling we are only beginning to understand and appreciate your lineage of gurus who appear to be related to those that for instance mccoy and I have followed. They all seem to come from Kriya yoga practice originated by the timeless Babaji. Am I correct in this assumption?

It has taken me years to have some understanding of for instance Eric’s path and his spiritual influences. Thanks for all the photos here and I hope to learn more as I understand more about your spiritual journey Uwe. I’ve never been in Europe this life, have you been in the states?

I do remember some of these accounts but I do not recall your saying where they took place. For instance; you said you were with Bhaktananda but I do not recall where? In Europe or the states. I’ve never been in Europe this life. So did you live in the states or visit? Many of the SRF monks have been all over the world. However I see you are including more information above, with edits ….thanks

I see the PDF here UWE I believe that at times you will share some of it with us when it seems appropriate to the situation. If not your experiences will manifest in your attitude and behavior in our encounters here with those at spiritual portal, where we have much to share as friends.

This pdf-file was already shared much earlier in a different thread, and commented on by you, as far as I can remember, Steve. Remember? - It seems you don't.

Mustabeen something like "Don't be a stranger" iirc.

As for my attitudes when posting here, I'm not a friend of Dumbfckerry nor Scullduggry, and I will keep voicing my sentiments. Rest assured. ;)

I do not, specifically recall, where that is.  I do remember you have asked about ‘memory’ before. I do not recall every detail of our conversations, no matter what the circumstances, where and when. When I think you may have forgotten something I usually quote something you’ve said that I remember. If you are able to remember with clarity, that is indeed a fortunate ability to have.  I have started a thread on it, since it seems to interest you and it is an important subject!

Our search feature is not the best.

But I believe this is the post you are referring to:

Looking back... I am surprised your experiences started in 2008(as this was around the time of my personal experiences too).

Yes I believe that deletion is an automated process, it's happened to me too. Better to copy the image URL hosted from another site than to upload an image.

Yes you may be correct Eric, because no one takes care of such matters here ,that I know of excerpt me, and I sincerely do not have money to put into this site at this time.

This site is pretty awesome considering it's free. I am grateful Steve, and don't want you to feel burdened. I am not troubled by what works or doesn't. For the most part, we have all been getting along just fine.

This quote is something that I continuously have contended with in my life….

~ Spend time with none but God, then time will not be wasted ~
                             Baba Hariharananda

And through all my experiences I’ve recognized, but wonder; can there be any meaningful activity we can have with out having every second in the thought that God is part of it? I mean what requires our attention that is important beyond the thought of God? We obviously have to focus on other challenges in our life. But to what extent do they require our attention? This has become more and more a serious concern of my life.

"There is only one virtue and one sin for a soul on the path.
Virtue when he is conscious of God, sin when he is not."
-HIK
In all things, God is present.

Swami Jnanananda in his old age, "Listen to the trees":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Xx95TTrbms

Have you shared this video before under another alias? I remember watching this, and thinking how amazing it was to see him so innocent and joyful in contrast to the honking and hustle and bustle of traffic right outside his house. I saw it a while ago and can't remember if it was introduced here or I just happened to stumble upon it. I love watching him go over and ring the bell and shouting, "Welcome!"

 :)

Thank - You Uwe and Eric ….I see that he appears to be happy and helpful in understanding the ways of nature. Perhaps like you ‘stumbled’ on this video we can also be happy on how God helps us stumble upon the mysteries and joys that surround us daily. Especially when we are intentional about remembering the ways of spirit in all our experiences.

Mahavatar Babaji
(painting; oil on canvas in the style of the old masters)

Thanks Brother, I wonder about this painting Uwe, it looks different than other drawings/paintings I’ve seen of him. So I wonder if the artist actually saw him or if it is just his rendition of such a great spirit. I’m sure that Babaji could also change his appearance to suit the artist’s preconceived notions and projections of divinity. But that painting sure inspires devotion! i saved it to my photos so we do not lose it!

Baba Hariharananda & Peter baba (my initiators into Kriya yoga):

Really feel as though some photos really show the inner nature of the person. And this one really shows what character Peter has. I don’t know him yet but he looks like a man with tremendous strength of character especially in his appearance of appreciation for his Master, here in this photo.

                            Swami Jnanananda Giri
                       ~* 27.11.1929 to 06.11.2015 *~

The Swiss man who walked to India by his feet in 1952 at the age of 23, after having read the 'Autobiography of a Yogi' by Paramahansa Yoganandaji. He never returned home, became a monk initiated into Kriya yoga and stayed in India for the rest of his life.

His Kriya yoga guru was a disciple of Swami Kebalananda (Yoganada's Sanskrit teacher), Swami Atmananda Giri of YSS (Yogoda Satsanga Society) in India who had taken sannyas-initiation (monk-hood initiation) from Paramahansa Yogananda and whom he met at Dakshineswar (Kolkata). He stayed with him in Kolkata for as long as he lived (12 years) before he moved on to the Himalayas.

Here's a close-up interview with him by Malcolm Tillis (1980)! (http://www.newlives.freeola.net/interviews/6_swami_jnanananda_giri.php)

Some quotes from this interview:

~ "For anyone who has renounced the world, there is no past." ~

~ "I was drawn to complete renunciation: it is the best way to have sufficient time and to leave off thoughts of the world." ~

~ “All spiritual teachings are the same: the essence is to dwell in God, to dwell in the Reality at all times. By spiritual practice one aims to lose one’s little self to become one with the Ideal.“ ~

~ "(My Guru's teaching) was not a question of study from books to add to one’s knowledge. It was to surrender to the Divine to feel what is meant by Reality or Absolute Truth. To feel this is to know It. Such feeling comes by intense self-giving. It is the grace of the unspeakable power of the Divine that opens the way to bestow the new life." ~

~ "Now you have asked me about the hectic conditions under which most people live in the West. I believe the time will come when only those who meditate will be able to sleep at night. The total dependency on money and the security we imagine it brings is total ignorance if we are afraid to be alone without material possessions. At the time of death even millionaires are alone — nothing outside can help us. We are alone with our fears if we are rooted to the body, and we carry those impressions with us into the Beyond. Those who have meditated will also be alone when they leave, but will be filled with peace and they will carry that peace with them. To forget the world makes man a pilgrim; to forget the next world makes him a saint; to forget the ego gives him self-realization; forgetfulness of the forgetful is perfection." ~

~ "There is only the Guru. Guru is a state of consciousness — it is not a person. The person is only the instrument through which the power of guru flows." ~

~ "Now you have asked me about the hectic conditions under which most people live in the West. I believe the time will come when only those who meditate will be able to sleep at night. The total dependency on money and the security we imagine it brings is total ignorance if we are afraid to be alone without material possessions.
