Title: Meditation as a youth and teen ager
Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Sep 02, 2023 05:09 am
Sometimes we look back on our lives and see how things developed and where they originated. Meditation is a good example.  I remember finding a place up in the attic in my fathers house, when the other kids were playing, using their pellet guns, doing other things that kids do. I retreated up into the attic, and found a little corner to be by myself, almost as though I don’t know why, but maybe I was continuing a practice I had done in previous episodes in life on this planet.

When it came to being a teenager, I explored what meditation might mean by burning some incense and sitting and staring at a candle as it was burning, closing my eyes and trying to see the candlelight still in my minds eye. Occasionally, I still do the same practice. Seems like I had more luck with it when I was a teenager;  because I seem to be able to visualize the light better at that time. Perhaps it’s that I’m used to more advanced meditation techniques now; can’t really say. But having almost a full moon tonight, I was able to direct the car in vision of the (almost) full Moon in front of me and stare at it, then close my eyes and see if I could retain the image in my minds eye.

Staring at the Sun 🌞 is more productive because the ‘burned’ imprint like that of a fire 🔥 or candle 🕯️ retains itself longer. But any such gazing interiorizes the consciousness.
