Title: Japa Malas and changing mantras Post by: guest66 on Mar 18, 2010 12:26 am Hello, all.
I'm writing to ask a question which is a slight concern for me. A few months ago I worked for some time to string my own set of prayer beads (japa mala) and used them for a time with the Hare Krishna mantra, but now I feel that there's a distance between me and that mantra, and that the Gayatri, which one of my mentors introduced me to recently, is the mantra for me. Would it be wrong to change the mantra which I am using with these beads? Should I obtain/make another stand? _/\_ to all, L T L ॐ Title: Re: Japa Malas and changing mantras Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Mar 18, 2010 12:38 am Hello, all. Would it be wrong to change the mantra which I am using with these beads? Should I obtain/make another stand? _/\_ to all, L T L ॐ Nomaste LTL It is nice to have your presence again. i have noticed that often you have questions regarding fine details of spiritual practice. Do you really think that God finds it important to use different beads for a different mantra? i use my beads for any mantra or practice that i happen to be doing at the time. For me i feel that God has blessed all of them even the ones that i no longer practice very much. But i am no authority. i just can't imagine God looking at us and thinking such things as when we used a mantra with certain beads. The beads are only a mechanism to keep your mind focused. If they are blessed by your prayers, practice or a saint then that can only add to that devotion that you are feeling. Everybody I talk to about my spiritual practise thinks I obsess over fine detail, but that's present in every element of my life. (I suppose that's possibly a karmic kink that I'm being guided to work out?) I am very grateful for your input, and will use the beads for Gayatri as well now. Your question on the changing beads/ changing mantras reminds me of something meditation questions, people always asking how/ what is the best way ? I believe it is different for each individual - each has their own goals for meditation, each their own way of reaching this goal if one gets too caught up in the hows and whys, one doesn't enjoy the journey ha ! maybe no connection to your question at all - but is what came to mind while reading it cool phrase, " karmic kink " ! ;D updating spiritual lingo wishing you the best on your spiritual journey my friend! 8) Title: Re: Japa Malas and changing mantras Post by: guest66 on Apr 03, 2010 01:12 pm Thank you, my squirrelly friend.
I am learning that the best way on this journey is just to walk. If we put one foot in front of the other, He will surely guide us to where we are supposed to be.
