Title: Teasing and being derogatory. Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Jul 14, 2023 04:53 pm Often we tease people because we actually find them endearing and like them. At what point does teasing become derogatory? I find it is difficult to assess because we may reach the point that we activate some ‘sensitive’ part of a persons personality that may also be termed ego.

The correct thing to do would be not to tease at all, not knowing a priori the effects on the teased subject. Title: Re: Teasing and being derogatory. It reminds me of the time Yogananda was with Anandamoy and wrapped a scarf around him and said “Look at the Pasha everyone look at the Pasha” and Anandamoy felt like he’d like to crawl into a corner and hide. Usually, with age and grace, you can tell if a joking vibration is being reciprocated or if you're just being downright hurtful. And if you don't care that you're being hurtful, you are indeed questionable company. Some people are just miserable, but we don't know what they've been through to imprison themselves either... Keep God at the center of your vision and think how you wish to behave and what you wish to experience IN HIS COMPANY. <3 <3 <3 .... Those we can no longer serve, or no longer serve us, seem to fall by the wayside if but momentarily. |
