Title: The Phenomenon of Dreams; Lesson 10 Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Nov 15, 2022 04:04 pm Lesson 10 The Phenomena of Dreams
I decided to review the SRF lesson on dreams alone since there was so much interest in dreams here on the site. I have included Nikki’s reply from the old post on Dreams under Self - Realization Fellow lessons 6-10. She has passed on but added much to our portal here while she was alive. Her entry is the second one here in blue. What i enjoyed most about this lesson is that Paramahansa Yogananda mentions that all dreams have some significance because if nothing else they give us a first hand account of our state of consciousness. In that sense they are revealing. Title: Re: The Phenomenon of Dreams; Lesson 10 Post by: Jitendra Hydonus on Nov 15, 2022 04:06 pm That is an interesting connection between the dreams and our state of consciousness. So not only can we learn something by interpreting our dreams, but we learn what our state of consciousness is too. It is also mentioned that "we can adjust our waking thoughts and actions, if we want to clarify or improve our dreams."
I like the part about in dreams the soul can create its own world , " satisfying all its unfulfilled earthly desires by materializing them into dream experiences ". Isn't that really what dreams are about ? Kind of like wishful thinking in a way ? Of course, there are times one dreams about things that have happened to them during the day, or they may dream about whatever is on their mind, when they drift off to sleep. If there were problems or stress during the day, this probably manifests itself in your dreams at night. Sometimes, answers come to one in dreams. Such a delicately interwoven piece of artwork and reality, our dreams are. Into Blue Title: Re: The Phenomenon of Dreams; Lesson 10 Post by: guest587 on Nov 16, 2022 12:12 am It's all that is. I am pleased to see you share Nikki's words, so poetically expressed. Not only are there dreams that are placed together, 'haphazardly' by our conscious mind- there are dreams that seem orchestrated by a larger consciousness, and in a moment, all that is- is divinely experienced... It's fuel for the 'individualized' incarnations deeper curiosities in relation with its expression and experience alongside linear time.
All possibilities are here, and dreams are another experience with the Divine Self. Thank you for sharing Yogananda's wisdom. I agree. I see it in the community where we record our dreams and believe ones attitude can and has certainly lived on in other realms. I am forever grateful for my dreams, cherishing them since childhood... And even now, there is a propelling and satisfying mystery to the entire experience. Title: Re: The Phenomenon of Dreams; Lesson 10 Post by: mccoy on Nov 17, 2022 08:19 am I remember Nikki, she came across some kind of demonic being (a criminal psychopath) who took advantage of her good nature and willingness to help, unfortunately with a very violent ending. A few devotees questioned why the Gurus did not protect her. It was probably some kind of inevitable karma. I do not remember any specific religious or spiritual views, maybe she only expressed them here. I'm also going to share an unsettling episode involving Nikki which was written on one of the deceased boards. This is something that I remember, not exactly but clearly enough. There was one member who showed up, and started writing things about Nikki, first on past incarnations: she had been a pirate with an earring; she had been a farmer in Russia, drinking milk diluted with water and potatoes, sat at the table with the family. Something else I do not remember. Very clear scenes of past incarnations. Then something happened. The member started to write desultorily something about what he/she had seen, in a restless and almost scared way. She hinted that he/she saw something terrible in the future, then ceased to write and perhaps deleted the posts. I remember clearly, from what the clairvoyant member wrote, he or she saw the future and saw Nikki's demise, although not saying it explicitly. Again, pretty unsettling. She was murdered a few years later. |
