Spiritual Portal

I have no idea whether this is the right forum to put this in, so feel free to move it if I've misplaced it. However, I am noticing more and more that I am coming across names of Swamis which I have no idea what they "mean". I wondered whether somebody might provide me with some guidance. I mean, I've pretty much realised that "Daya" is Sanskrit for compassion, hence Sri Daya Mata ("Compassionate Mother"?)

But...names such as Br. Anandamoy's (Bliss of ....) elude me.

Is there a list somewhere of the common monastic/spiritual names? Or could somebody provide such a thing?

Ananadamoy was a direct dsiciple (wtih him while he was in the flesh) of Paramahansa Yogananda. His name means Ananda: Bliss
Moy: Permeated.

By the way i asked one of the brothers how long he (Master)was in a wheel chair and he told me not that long. Apparently while working off the karma of his disciples he would sometimes get out of the chair and walk proving that he was bound by nothing. Perhaps there are no pictures of this because it would give others the wrong idea of an avatar.

I get a feeling now that I should have recognised/realised about Br. Anandamoy...after all- Anandamoyi Ma (sp?) was the "Joy Permeated Mother".
